I can do that but it's not a full show. Basically he's giving a lecture on living with bipolar disorder and the stigma attached to it followed by an acoustic set and then a meet and greet in a cocktail party setting. It's all going down at Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences (AKA Whitby Mental Health). Here's a link ($25 isn't too bad eh :wink: )

I just said this morning, what the hell do you say to somebody who's records you grew up listening to? I'm not too keen on saying much of anything but if it happens it happens. I'm too easily starstruck, I remember a couple of years ago I went to the New Pornographers show at Kool Haus and the Kathryn Calder came out after the show to talk and sign stuff. Anyways I got her to sign my ticket and tried to say something along the lines of "That show was amazing you can really play!" and it came out more like this "mohodafoajgiad" under my breath. When she asked what I said I quickly replied "Oh nothing" and I'm pretty sure gave an expression akin to a serial rapist lol. I'm usually very comfortable and confident talking to people I've never met before so that totally threw me for a loop lol.

I was just curious if you had something already in mind to ask him about, I was contemplating this event and started thinking about what I would say to him, its tough. Ive never really met anyone famous or that I really admired before. Not in this way, I dont know what Id say. He's an interesting character and not your average rock and roll type, I know he's a big soccer fan Id probably kid him for being an Arsenal fan. Yeah tell him Lizard King says Arsenal sucks balls.

An interview with Matt before he played, very interesting. Followed that with a short acoustic set:
1. Last Parade (Apparently this was the first time it's ever been played acoustically)
2. Metal Airplanes (Said he wrote this on the airplane on the way home from England after a major breakdown)
3. Born Losers (this event took place in a mental health hospital and midway through this song "Code White In Section A2 was repeated several times which Matt joked about)
4. True Love Will Find You In The End (Talked about the film "the devil and Daniel Johnston" and told a story about a man who used to shout "Hey Judy" every morning and he had everybody laughing as he joked about it and then when everyone was good and jolly he said "Ya pretty funny eh. What if I told you there is no Judy? and that man had Schizophrenia. Not so funny any more. and launched into the song with a silent room)
Talked to him about losing my brother last year and how I've been listening to the albums Bridge Over Troubled Water, Tonight's The Night and his Live at Massey Hall to help me get through.
Not bad for $25!
If anyone knows how to post a picture from my hard drive so it shows up here let me know!

oh and Chris, before the show the organizer said no recordings or photos allowed during the performance and Matt kept mouthing "It's ok!" and shaking his head while the guy said that. So I'm assuming he's fine with it.
