New Matt Good album- Oct. 6th
#1

New album is called "Vancouver" and is basically a concept album about the city itself. I have to admit I kinda lost interest in this guy for a while after the Audio of Being came out, and his first solo album didn't really do much for me. But then I re-discovered him last summer when he blew me away at Calgary's Virgin Fest. He was the first act of the day that actually got the entire crowd on their feet, dancing, and singing along. It was a brilliant set. The next day I went and bought copies of White Light Rock N' Roll Review and Hospital Music and instantly fell in love with both albums. I'm really looking forward to hearing the new one.

The demos of this album have been available forever. Nothing really thrilled me, but then, neither has any of his material since Audio of Being or so.

Hospital Music was my first introduction to Matthew Good and I can't wait for Vancouver to come out. Most importantly I can't wait to see him on tour. I will definitely have to check him out, especially if he does a few tour dates in the States.

Anybody digging this new single? Go to Matt's site right now to stream it, idunno how long he'll keep it up there for.

I like it, the gf finds it repetitive and annoying. But I like that piano, something calming about it...

I have never been able to stomach him. I saw him live in 97 at Edgefest and didn't think much of him live either. I also don't care for his in-your-face, offensive attitude and just heard him on CBC's Q an hour ago and it reconfirmed my dislike for him.

I just listened to his interview on "Q". Just curious, what did he say that rubbed you the wrong way? The guy is obviously very outspoken in regards to his feelings on politics and his hometown, but so what? A lot of artists are critical of the cities they live in. Just listen to the Weakerthans for example. Nothing in that interview struck me as particularly douchebag-like. To me he just seemed very passionate about the subject matter they were discussing.

Not to say he hasn't said things in the past that made him look like a total prick. But he seems to have matured quite a bit since then. Especially after he dealt with his illness.
