Well as I have said several times in various posts, the greatest HIP cover band is ROAD APPLES. I have a Road Apples Facebook group, feel free to join. They played Brockville's Riverfest last night and put on a great show. Now what's odd, is there is a one hit wonder form the 70's called Road Apples. And here's a YouTube clip of that band doing a HIP cover!

At this point, Strictly Hip NEVER does Hip only shows. Their manager told them years ago they needed to expand and they've never really looked back. They haven't been what many of you would call a "Tribute Band" since I'd say 2004, latest. They keep the name I'm sure, because they have marketability. They are very good as a general bar band that play covers, and I agree...Jer's solo stuff is great.
As far as Tributes go, for me it has to be Elevation, a tribute to U2. They frequent the Southern Ontario area but play everywhere. Saw them last week and they already have the new songs down pat. Dress and act like the band, which to some may be silly, but honestly, they are amazing. I'm hoping someone on the board can back me up.

Rain - A Tribute To the Beatles
I caught them at their sold-out 3,500 seat Buffalo show.
What a great time it was.
They do not use one single backing track/sound track. Which I was very confused about during the show because of all the extra instruments I heard but did not see, and then for the bows at the end they brought out their utility man from behind stage.
They were amazing - if they are ever in your area, check them out.
