And to add insult to injury, there are reports that A-Roid was seen in South Beach with Kate hudson at 2:30 AM -- after being benched for "fatigue".

What an absolute idiot.

*snark* I'm not a nasty person at heart, but as a lifelong Sox fan, it's really nice to be four games up AND see A-Rod get his due. :censored:ing matinee idol, golden boy bull crap is falling away rapidly.

God the Reds suck.

Embarrassing.

Good work Bronson. Nothing like letting the Jays punk you at Rogers on the anniversary of the Jays punking you at Rogers.

Did i say 'embarrassing'?

As a lifelong Royals fan, it pains me to say this, but ... yes, when you're getting swept by the Royals, something's definitely wrong. Although the Astros are one loss away this afternoon from suffering the same fate. At least the Reds did it on the road.

I actually think that ol' Walt Jocketty has the Reds going in the right direction, but they are still a couple bats away from being a good, solid team. They have a thin offensive team as it is, and the injury-go-round has really hindered this team. Thankfully, Joey Votto is back, and he's the type of hitter that makes the whole middle of the lineup better. Bruce will be a force once he learns how to make adjustments over the course of a full MLB season, but he's not there yet.

But they really need a solid 3B who can hit AND field, and they need to find a outfielder who can give them solid offense on a consistent basis. I loved the Taveras signing this winter, and hoped Willy could put it together and get on base 35% of the time, and he started very well, but he's back to being the old Willy -- useless because he can't be a leadoff hitter and cannot find first base.

What did you think about Votto coming out and speaking openly about what he's been dealing with? I thought it was refreshing to see an athlete come out and talk about something like that. Especially when, for years, something like that would have been frowned upon. Hopefully he's on his way back to good mental health.

I think it's great of course, but it's not at all surprising coming from Joey Votto. He's so honest, so grounded, so driven. The man is a model professional, and one impressive human being. He's the guy you build a franchise around, and the rare type of athlete in today's professional sports who you'd actually want your own kid to idolize.

And in his 3rd game back after missing a month, he goes 4-5 with a 2B, a HR, and 3 RBI (two 2-out RBI).

I was at the game last night, what a show he put on :thumb: Given what he's been through, and the fact that he's a hometown boy, I didn't mind at all that the Jays lost...

Yes, this belongs more under a "1975 MLB Thread," and, no, it's not about Esthete's fantasy team (when's the mercy rule kick in?), but it's bound to be a good read because it's by Joe Posnanski and it's about baseball...

"What is the greatest collection of talent assembled under one dugout roof? A forthcoming book makes the case for the 1975 Cincinnati Reds, a juggernaut so sleek that it produced a Hall of Fame manager, three regulars who made Cooperstown and a fourth who squandered his chance."
