Tour 2009 Statistics
#31

Tthip Wrote:And I can't wait to hear Country Girl live :thumb:

If this album went to the In Between Evolution school of song-titles, they would have called every song *Something* Girl.

Morning Girl, Honey Girl, Recluse Girl, Coffee Girl, Struggle Girl, Depression Girl, Feeling Girl, Furrows Girl, River Girl, Frozen Girl, Love Girl, and Country Girl.

I refer to the "open up the Atlas" and "tell us what time it is" approach to IBE: Central Park, Copenhagen, New Orleans, Nashville -- One Night, Every Night, Good Night.

Hell, even the album title was an amalgam of In Violet Light and Live Between Us.

It's like on M@W when Gordie got stuck at the zoo: The Bear, Sharks, Tiger the Lion.

... Highway Girl, Thompson Girl ...

Shouldn't the stats say, for example: Furrows 3 of 7? not 3 of 3? What is the 2nd number representing I think I'm missing something.

Anyone else surprised that with all the set changes happening every night, Poets has still been played 6 out of 7 nights? Poets??? Come on now!

This is last night's setlist from the DMB show in Georgia. Under the tour slot, it gives "# of times played up to this show out of the total of times played in the entire tour," which is what I'm getting at with the numbering here. I just find it an easy way to keep count as I go along as to how many times something is played. The almanac automatically updates past shows as it goes along, which I think is where some of the confusion is coming in here. I'm not doing that (yet - let's see how much time I want to spend at the office this spring and things may change)

That said, come the fall when this tour (conceivably) ends, the master list of shows could look like this, for example:

April 24 - Toronto

The Depression Suite 1 of 45
In View 1 of 50
Fireworks 1 of 34

June 27 - Wiarton

The Depression Suite 15 of 45
In View 20 of 50
Fireworks 12 of 34

Sept 30 - The Hammer

The Depression Suite 43 of 45
In View 47 of 50
Fireworks 34 of 34.

And so on... Whereas at the time of each show, it will look more like this

April 24 - Toronto

The Depression Suite 1 of 1
In View 1 of 1
Fireworks 1 of 1

June 27 - Wiarton

The Depression Suite 15 of 15
In View 20 of 20
Fireworks 12 of 12

Sept 30 - The Hammer

The Depression Suite 43 of 43
In View 47 of 47
Fireworks 34 of 34.

And as a sidebar, that looks like a crazy DMB set from last night.

Regardless, thanks for the feedback and thumbs up. I'm plan to keep doing this in a timely fashion (evening of/morning after show) throughout the tour (you know, unless I throw it all away and move to Korea in the next week - stranger things have happened).

Cheers,

Pat

Sorry Pat. Now I see what you're doing. Good stuff.

It's springtime -- every springtime, I get a jonesing for Poets, so I say bring it on ... Poets is classic without (yet) being done to death ... come July/August maybe they'll replace it with SiKU, but until then: spring starts with a heart beat's pounding .

According to the review Thompson replaced a scratched-out Opiated. Now, as someone who has never seen Thompson Girl live, I'm not complaining, however, you put either one of these tracks in front of me Saturday night, and I'm a happy kid.

While I don't think this will happen, it will be interesting to see if this stretch of three shows stacks up to the variety of the three Kitchener shows. With Philly, NYC and Boston in such close proximity, I'm sure there are enough fools doing all three (the thought had crossed my mind).

Also, because of the Boston trip Saturday, probably won't be able to update the stats until Monday morning at the earliest. Will be updating the set Saturday via twitter with the tags @hipbase and #tth in front of the song abbreviation.

I thank you for this service, and I have read the posts above, so I understand the *blank* of *blank* issue. Here's my humble suggestion:

When you list the show -- e.g. May 11, 2009 -- Massey Hall #1 -- Toronto -- you could also list what number that show is overall for the tour -- e.g. Show #11.

That would then allow us to use the *blank* of *blank* info, that is (until the end of the tour) not particularly helpful to still figure out how many times each song has been played out of the number of shows that have been played.

So,

"May 11, 2009 -- Massey Hall #1 -- Toronto Show #11

Morning Moon 10 of 10"

We now know that, in addition to this being the tenth time Morning Moon has been played, Morning Moon has been played, thus far, at (10/11) = 90.9 % of the total shows.

everyone's a critic,
