I used to not like them either... but they ROCK in concert. Hardcore.

Smile
I'm not a fan.
I did happen to catch one of their live shows last summer and they sounded OK, but they played their hit "I'm not ready to go" twice in the same concert! Brutal. Or as the french would say... FROMAGE!!!!

Call me crazy, but I'm not a big fan of the Trews. I saw them here in Cowtown a little while ago and I thought they were good, but nothing to write home about. A buddy of mine gave me a free copy of their disc and I've tried giving it a few spins, but it just doesn't grab me the way other albums do. Having said that, I still think they're a few notches above the current crop of radio-friendly rock bands.

I just ran across a video of this:

I have. Twice. The first time was okay, the second time was overkill, I guess. I just started to get bored a few minutes into the show that second time.

However, the first time I saw them was at the Keith's 250th Birthday Party, and the Joel Plaskett Emergency was opening, so I had a chance to see them up-close and personal and went home going, "I get it. Joel rocks."

And then the second time they had a guy named Will Hoge (southern rocker) open for them at the Marquee, and I went home going, "Will Hoge rocks."

I think I may go to Trews shows just to see who their opening act is, since I have much better luck with them than the Trews themselves. (I was at the free concert the week of the Junos as well, but I went to see Plaskett and Matt Mays and figured staying for the Trews would be anti-climactic, as well as rowdier than my old bones can take, so I left after Matt climbed down from the scaffolding and waved goodnight.)

I actually like them better on the radio or on CD than live, but only because I guess I don't have to give them my undivided attention. Which I feel bad about because they work so hard and everything, but their songs all seem to have the same tempo and after a while I get a little bored with their live act. Plus the times I saw them the singer's mind seemed to be elsewhere, so he wasn't very engaging at all.

I saw the Trews Friday night. The played at a Summer Festival in a small town about 10 minutes away from me.

I thought they were a very boring live band. I don't mind some of their stuff that I have heard on the radio and I had heard that they were a good live band, but I just didn't see it Friday.

Maybe it was the fact that they had to follow Bobnoxious, but there just didn't seem to be any energy in their live performance.

I liked the first Trews show I saw better than the 2nd and 3rd. I can understand why people aren't big fans of the band and I can also understand why people love them. I've tried very hard to get into them but am still kind of undecided. I like them but can't bring myself to being a more hardcore fan. Whatever you think of the band, I can say that the three times I've seen them have been HIGH ENERGY shows. The energy wasn't lacking at all. I think they're a great live band but I just don't like their songs as much as some other bands. They did a splendid cover of "The Weight" one night though. :thumb: :thumb:

i saw them 3 times in the last 6 months. i thought each show was great with lots of energy. for any tapers out there, the trews allow audience recordings. no board patches or video though.

they are also on the LMA at http://www.archive.org/details/TheTrews

I saw them again recently here in Ottawa at the Tulip Fest. It was an awesome, high energy show despite the pouring rain. The Sun even gave them five stars :o

I will agree though that their music seems to not appeal to everyone. Their live shows are always fun though.

It's probably been mentioned but they've tagged on At The Hundredth Meridian to songs. I personally love these guys.
