Opie doesn't vote and then complains about the results.
Are you sure he's not American?

It's not my favourite album but I don't quite get the humour in it being chosen as #1. :?

And that's funny because?

Phantom Power is a brilliant record, and I'm not just saying that because I'm a Hip fan. I think it easily ranks as one of the best albums released by any artist over the last 15 years or so.

no Sabbath? wtf!?!?!?!?!

I don't really care, it's just a silly list anyway, i'm just a a little shocked at the lack of respect/love for sabbath...or Floyd for that matter!

wow. that is a bold statement. i can think of at least 10 other albumbs that are better than that.

and was it really any surprise that a hip cd ranked #1 on a list created by hip fans?

i love this band, but i would only rank DFN as one of my all time faves and that would be near the bottom. there is just so much great music out there... sometime i think that the majority of people here only listen to the Hip and hip-related bands.

I put "Master of Reality" in my list. Maybe enough of us couldn't agree on a single Sabbath album. They're all too good anyway.

If that is the case, which it probably is, I don't see any problem with it. I've heard people tell me that my life isn't complete without listening to The Arcade Fire. I listened to them a bit and I'm quite content to live my life with no Arcade Fire. Smile I don't think there's any shame in listening to The Hip predominantly. Pink Floyd and Black Sabbath are legendary bands but if I don't like a lot of their stuff, I don't like it; it's as simple as that. The Hip are not on par as musicians with bands like Led Zep and Pink Floyd, but Gord is definitely on par with any songwriter in history IMO, and better than most.

Lyricist, songwriter...same thing to me. What is your contention? I mean, what is the difference between a lyricist and songwriter to you? I'm curious to know. :rambo:

A lyricist writes lyrics. A songwriter writes songs. Lyrics are a part of a song. A song doesn't require lyrics.

Two completely different things
