More Rumours - Hip Kingston

wow i hope this goes down im so excited

I think there has really only been three shows in Kingston since the Hip really, really broke the scene, prior to their bar band days.

Without looking, I believe 2004 Across The Causeway, 1994/95 Day For Night Tour, and 1993 Richardson stadium??..........At least I think.

Hip talk aside, it will be very interesting to see what other names Kingston will now be able to get with the new arena. The John Labatts Centre in London sure has drawn in some great concerts since it has opened. Granted it is larger.........but still its going to be interesting.

i get the feeling they played at Fort Henry at some time too (i want to say 1992/1993?).

__

I think the only reason they haven't played here in awhile is because we simply don't have a stage that can support them (literally, i have bad mental images of them trying to hang the screens from the rafters and it collapsing on Gord). The Memorial center is absolute crap for pretty much everything (terrible build, acoustics, ventilation, everything), so i can imagine this being the reason.

They've all played here with individual projects within the last couple of years, and are still pretty active in the community, so that seems like pretty much the only reason they haven't played here recently

According to [url=http://hipbase.com/archive/concerts.php?start_date=1987-07-02&end_date=2007-11-03&song_id=&tag_id=&location_id=19
]Hipbase[/url]:
1991-08-29 - Old Fort henry
1993-09-02 - Richardson Stadium
1995-02-06 - Memorial Centre (Gord D's Birthday)
1998-07-02 - Ironhorse Saloon
1999-08-27 - Limestone Blues Festival
2004-09-12 - RMC (Across The Causeway)

There just isn't a good venue for larger stage acts in Kingston - nothing to support their gear, their stage show, etc... just as thesellout said.

Be sure to keep an eye on the site next week I suppose. I'm in Kingston this weekend, so maybe I'll be able to dig something up.

As an aside, thanks to those who have PMed me about my personal statement, earlier on in the thread. While I certainly don't think I deserve to go to the show more than any other fan, it sure is nice to get some friendly hellos and well wishes.

Cheers,

Pat

From Henhouse, there's a rumour that The Hip are playing AJ's on Sunday night for a Wally High Party - $10 for tickets.

Wally High is pals with Aykroyd, and was mentioned when Dan introduced The Hip on SNL.

hmmmm .... just spoke with The Ale House .
It is a CD release party for Wally High for sure.
They weren't at liberty to confirm OR deny The Hip being there.
Read into that what you will.

But I'm a thinkin just maybe ...

Hey there, ah the Hip sould be in attendance if my inside sources are correct. But there is doubt that they will actually play as a band. After all this is a CD release party for Walley High and the Hip playing hip songs I don't think would be cool. But there is talk about a member or two joining Walley on stage. There is also talk about other faces that will be in the crowd. What I am hearing is that there will be a number of recognizable faces milling around.

For those that can not make the show I will have pictures on my website on Monday, ok well maybe Tuesday depending on how the night goes.
