An Evening with the Hip @ the "KEE"
#61

So what does everyone think about the fact that it is "An Evening"?

Do you think it will be the incredible 30 song shows like in 2000?

the club shows in October + November were "an evening with" shows
and they were 18-20 song sets with a 3 song encore

I wouldn't expect much different

The Rochester show was "an evening with" and it wasn't any longer than usual. I think it just means no opening band.

If anyone is looking for another place to stay (other than the Bala Bay Inn) there is the Crestwood Inn in Port Carling.
It is about a 15 min drive from Bala. It was renovated over the last two years.

Crest wood has the best (cheap) food in Muskoka
Great egg bennies for sure.
Nice place to crash
My friend will most likely be operating his school bus so I can make him stop at Crest wood to pick people up. Probably $10 return trip. I called him today and will post if he has a route set up.

He is operatring it on both nights and pick ups from port calring to bala will be no problem.
If there are enough (10) at Crestwood he won't mind stopping there. If not, it's not a crazy walk from Crest Wood to Taps in Port Carling.

Also local camping by Bala would be here

Does anybody know of any places near the Kee to crash for the night other than the Bala Bay Inn? Walking distance? Are there taxi's up there?

Don't think that there is anything within walking distance...but take a look at what Tragicallyphish said a couple of posts prior to yours.
There is the Crestwood Inn in Port Carling (if it isn't already booked) and it is 15 min drive. Phish mentioned the party bus that will be driving from Port Carling to Bala...hope this helps!

If tickets are not being delivered to buyers, how are we going to get our tickets. The site was very vague about this. Are we all going to have to line up @ 7:00PM the night of the show to get our tix? That could get ugly!

It shouldn't be toooo bad....only 700 or so lining up!!
Could be a slow process getting everyone in - having to check i.d. for the tickets etc!!
Doesn't make a huge difference if you aren't at the front of the line...it is a pretty small place. There is seating for maybe 100 or so on the second floor looking down and limited seating on the main floor. It will be great no matter where you are!
Can't wait!!!

I think we definately have to line up at 7pm, or at some point after that, but it shouldn't be that many people or take too long. The only people waiting in line will be the ones who ordered the tickets So, once you get them you'll disperse them to your buddies waiting in the parking lot - at least that's what I'm expecting.

That's my guess.

And I wouldn't expect the band to come on until everyone is in and ready to roll.

I think it will be a situation where you don't get tickets, you get admission. So you and your pals stand in line, get checked off the list and into the venue you go.

This pretty much eliminates scalpers, and it was listed as a ticketless event.

Chris is right. Once you and your party are 'checked in' you go into the Kee and you can't get out again til after the show.
