Aerosmith in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island
#16

Ok scratch the Aerosmith thing. But i'm hearing this morning that The Who might be playing Halifax Commons on August 18th (and there is going to be another big concert for the Commons on September 1st). So what are the odds of having The Hip open up for The Who in Halifax?

And I'm with you Tiger in that i'd rather have The Hip playing the Metro Centre (or even Citadell Hill) as headliners, and have another good band open for The Who (assuming they do come)....but any Hip is better than no Hip Smile

The Who? In Hali? Confusedhock: That would be quite interesting. So the Aerosmith concert is a no go?

I was searching Google for info on the Aerosmith concert and came across a PEI forum. I found a funny post from a person with the username of RedRock. Here is what he wrote:

Personally I thought Three Days Grace last year was the best band that has ever played here for the FOL..They killed it last year and put on a hell of a kickass show..Other then that tho the rest of it was garbage..Tragically Hip was a huge letdown..

Now, I'm no music expert and everyone is entitled to like what they want, BUT this is going too far isn't it? Tongue TDG the best ever at the Festival of Lights?

I have no idea about Aerosmith, hopefully the concert does happen because i'd really like to see them live. I meant scratch the Hip as an option for one of the openers for them.

And as for The Who, who knows if it will actually happen or not, but i heard a few rumors this morning that they might be playing Halifax Commons on August 18th. There was a Halifax council meeting last night, and afterwards they announced that they are planning on 2 concerts at Halifax Commons this year (one of which could be Tim McGraw & Faith Hill). They also revealed the location of a concert will be divided into 3 venues. For artists with 40,000+ drawing power it'll be Halifax Commons. 10,000 to 30,000 Citadell Hill. And 10,000 & under the Metro Centre.
Hopefully there is truth to The Who rumors, and if so, I wouldn't be surprised to see The Hip open for them (assuming they aren't already booked that weekend).

Looks like the Charlottetown show is happening! I'll be there if I can! See ya there!
Edit: Not The Hip playing, I meant Aerosmith playing.

Yeah it was finally made official this morning, I'm really looking forward to it! I've always wanted to see Aerosmith live, and never expected it to happen right here in Prince Edward Island. Still no word on opening acts, but it's supposed to be a 10 hour concert, so there should be plenty. I'm still hoping the original rumor of Randy Bachman & Burton Cummings happens, I haven't seen those boys live since 2000. As for the local scene, I'm really hoping they get Tracey Star!
Early word on ticket prices is $60+ taxes, which would awesome. With the insanely high ticket prices these days (the country concert in Moncton are $135 for the first 25,000, and then they go up to $165+ taxes...$60 is a bargain to see a world class band like Aerosmith + other acts TBA.

I've renamed this thread and moved it, as its not really that much about The Hip. Hope there's no "kwams" or however you spell it.

Thanks for changing the title Sean, especially seeing as it had nothing to do with the Hip anymore Smile

And it was said in a PR last week that The Who concert isn't going to happen now.
