May I suggest that anyone who wants to participate, records and uploads whatever instrument for whatever songs they like. And any one who wants to, can downlaod and mix them. It's a good way for those who don't sing or play an instrument to participate. We could have multiple mixes of the same song using some of the same tracks, all of the same tracks, or none of the same tracks.

Right now I'm kinda busy but I really want to do this. Once I get some time I'll upload a bass track for every tune I know. I encourage anyone else who wants to submit bass tracks to do so. I think this project could also serve to help people with they're playing. I know I'll have some questions about how people are playing things and having the isolated tracks will make learning new songs that much easier.

Am I way off course here?

I have to say I'm probably a little too excited about this.

Good idea. I'm still up for submitting some bass parts (if technology allows.)

Im not sure I understand what your saying Muddy Memory, are you saying that if you (not you, just in general) know a riff you should upload so someon else can DL is and play with it? If so isnt that what we're doing? Im a little confused over what you suggestion. But the overall idea I like, I think we need as many people as we can.

For me Im just waiting for someone to say what song they want to do and I could start recording. Matt I could do Fireworks if you want, but not Bob since its an open tuning. Ill leave that to Steve Big Grin

I just checked this out today and got all signed up or whatnot.

First off, I'm just going to record some tracks at the exact same speed and cues with the album. I'll post them. Then, do what you like with them, or not. I'll take requests, or fill in the difference on others after I've warmed up with a few of my choice.

I can play guitar, bass, I can sing, and I can play drums, but I don't know if I can get my hands on a suitable kit for this project.

Give me a week or two, and you'll see some tracks.

I guess all I was suggesting was that we needn't be limited to, for example, one bass track to "Something On". Everyone should upload whatever they want, whether it's already been done or not. And I was just saying that there is potential for poeple to learn some stuff about playing the songs as a by-product of this project.

I'm not trying to change anytihng at all. :thumb:

I think what Muddy Memory is trying to say is that it doesn't matter if multiple people upload the same track, we can all learn from each other and it gives multiple options for mixing, basdically I think he was encouraging people who were maybe worried about stepping on the toes of those of us who;ve already submitted.

Fireworks could be good, I'll lay down some vocals this week...

Come say hi on twitter @MattMerritt

I'm working on Meridian right now. just got the rhythm done for the first verse. I didnt know what song to record so I just started this one.

I tried to record Fireworks but its such a high tempo and it sounds like shit with my drum machine. That song pushes 156 bpm!

Small Town Bringdown (bass).

My version isn't perfect, but neither was the original. Please read the readme file first before listening/using.

Enjoy.

Family Band (bass).

I'm using a mic and there is too much static. Also, I'm picking up a lot of interfernce with my amp. Does anyone know how to remedy that?

Lotsa ways to fix that, muddy.

1. Don't use an amp. You'll probably get a better signal if you just go direct in to whatever you're using to record, be it a computer, or a porta-studio.

2. Turn Treble and Hi-mid down, both on your bass and on your amplifier.

3. Combine the two. Use the line-out on your amp to send your signal straight to what you are recording with. This "interference" may be just speaker noise or faulty wiring.

I'll give your track a listen tomorrow and post any suggestions based on what I hear... maybe you'll give me some insight into your equipment so I can have some extra information?
