^ yeah - I had the same sec for the NYD 2000 show but something like row 12 and seat 22, so it was a bit further back, the best view you could ask for, I'm hoping this is the same just a bit closer.

I think the guy who made the stage stuff last tour was Christopher Mills, who did Macroscopic and the video vignettes on Hipeponymous. I think he did good.

I forget what year this was (I think it might be the Dec 20, 2000 show @ HSBC Arena), but I saw this picture...and thought of this thread

I think that's the IBE tour... hence the logo in the lower corner.

For the IBE Winter tour - they did not play at HSBC in Buffalo. Buffalo only got a summer show at Darien Lake.

Actually, after checking into it - I am pretty sure this picture is from Darien Lake 7-23-04.

I'm always in for the Band also.... and a couple of large screens for the people at the back and top sections is a nice touch... it really lets you in on the show if your not down front.... close ups of the musicians doing their thing!!

In the end Quality Sound is REAL important and a few other visual effects become expected as we head into these new ticket price ranges $$$

I have 5th row so the screens won't help me and don't care much about price when it comes to live music... so I'm speaking in general terms of where concerts are at!

I think they should just go with the "less is more" theory, some nice subtle vids in the background, lighting that really adds to the atmosphere created by the songs, nothing too flashy. We don't want the background, stage, or lighting pulling focus now do we?

that said, as long as the band is onstage, I'm happy Big Grin

The Hip's music doesnt need anything fancy. Just lights. They dont need to set the mood with the lighting, videos etc, but they can sure as hell enhance it.
