Wow. Had no idea people hated Summer so much. I’ve loved the song, especially Live, since 2004.
I think it’s the most purely fun song on the album. It’s catchy, love Rob’s guitar, Gord’s vocals suit the song almost crazy-sounding. Plus, it’s catchy. Why do people hate it so much?

Voted Copenhagen; I actually like the first two cuts. They might not be the Hip at their finest but there is a raw, frantic, energy in those songs that I really connect with. This is one of my favourite Hip albums, but Copenhagen is one song that I just never have connected with; nothing in that song is particularly noteworthy or catchy to me.

I like Summer, it's got a killer bridge and an undeniable "whoo", but the "ayyyyy-ayy-ayyyyy-ayy" gets old quick and the melody is pretty average by Hip standards. It's a fun live tune, but on this record, it's below average. The thing with these polls is...ya gotta pick something. When the Penguins play the Capitals, one errant pass loses the game.

"Summer's Killing Us" is an all-time bottom-five worst Hip song. It was such a momentum killer on the 2004 tour, too: Scar, Grace...Summer. The h*ck.

Agreed. I saw them at Molson Amp and ACC that year and Scar opened both shows. It was great. That Canada Day show was super.

I voted for Gus and will continue to do so all the way to the final round. I find the vocals really annoying and I've never really understood the love for it. However, I will never begrudge anyone for liking any song. Gus is a massively popular song and there's obviously a reason for it. At the end of the day people will innately like or dislike a song for their own reasons.

Summer is a crazy song. A mad, clattering, jolt and jerk creation. It's completely nuts. I like that about it, and the reckless brio with which Gord careens around with it, what with the I-can'r-quite-hit-this-note chorus and the voice crack at the end redeemed by that what-the-hell 'whooo!' The whole thing tickles me. But I understand people going in the other direction. :lol: What's truly amazing is that any carbon-based life form thought that was a good idea for a single!! Whoooo indeed.
Dislike of Gus and Yer Everywhere just seems unfathomable to me, though.

I found it interesting to see what songs the Hip chose to play from the different albums during the last tour. They played an IBE set 3 times, all with the same 4 songs: New Orleans is Beat, Nashville, Gus, and Summer.
Who knows the exact reason these 4 were picked and it might be they chose ones that Gord D grew more comfortable with during rehearsals. But FWIW (probably not much as it's up to everyone to make up their own mind) their setlist choice indicates if the band was voting in this poll, those 4 songs wouldn't be the first ones they voted off.
