Am I the only person that doesn't care for Fly?

Escape@Hand Wrote:Yeah, well I just don't get all the love for it. It's probably going to be a song the play live all the time though, and I'll never want to hear it again, just like NOIS. And I realize I'm walking the thin line of blasphemy by saying that.

I'll walk on that thin line of blasphemy with you. Don't care for Fly much either... however Luv(sic) blows me away with every listen.

Words I....carry...in my heart...

so good, so so so so so so so good. Someone at work yesterday asked if that was Interpol when the song was playing, weird.

Anyways, my 2 cents on fly: It's amazing.

Fly is already an auto-skip for me both on WC and boots.

Does absolutely nothing for me.

I was the opposite. When I first heard fly I didn't see what the big deal was. To me, it was a lower-end song. Not terrible, but not good enough to make me all tingly inside  .

I guess it was several weeks after the album came out, when I finally took it out of my CD player. I listened to something else for a bit, then got the shakes and had to put WC back in. Now I can't get enough of Fly. Great song. Great energy. I still don't think it's single material, but definitely a phenominal song!!! :thumb:

So, to answer the initial question asked: No, you're not alone, but you're strongly outnumbered!!!

From the second I heard it, I absolutely loved it. Hasn't changed since then, although it does kind of get assimilated by the rest of the record.

I agree. It's a song with great lyrics, and a great vibe...but, there are songs that get more attention on the album

'Fly' is great (if you can stand the production) until the middle eight, where the oversinging just drives me up the wall, and then the cheesy-sounding solo - bleh. Restraint, please. So you're not the only one.

'Ocean' is rather banal by Downie standards, but catchy and inoffensive enough. (Love(Sic)? Please. The problems there are a lack of a decent hook, the crummy pun, and general pointlessness).

ok Negative Nancy...sounds to me like some of you are looking for reasons to not like songs...

but w/e, it's your loss in the end, because in the end, you're limiting yourself to a smaller amount of hip...

This is one of my favs. When I heard this in Pittsburg Gord did a cool intro about quarantine and how he discovered the city. Hooked right away!!

I do agree that the lyrics are good, but I find the music rather mediocre, especially compared to the rest of the album. After hearing it in Calgary, I do like it more, but I still feel it's one of the weaker songs on WC.

I'm not a big Fly fan either. I don't skip it, I just tolerate it....

OK, watch this performance from the summer, before the toll of 20 concerts in 25 days ravaged Gord's voice: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AXtmEbh_TGc
