First of all, wow I am flabbergasted that that whole thread and rumour never found its way to my eyes/ears! How'd I miss that?!?
Second of all, it doesn't appear as if it was ever confirmed. That could have just been a mistake or a hoax and the MMP album was never actually related to that thing.
Who knows?!? Lol

I really hope they, if Gord has the energy and they have material, hit the studio.
Im lucky to see three shows this tour and I truly hope to get a chance to see more.
But considering the emotional weight of these shows, the very long solo moments Gord has given us ( Im not sure Ive ever seen anything in a live concert so emotionally charged as that moment when he is alone on stage), I'm not counting on seeing the band live again aftr the Hamilton show. I hope I do, but for now Im going in thinking that will be it.
I would prefer more music than more touring if the band has a choice...
In truth, what Id love is for Gord to write a book of poerty or short fiction ( always felt short fiction would be something hed delve into) ...

Yes 18 year old me was quite the fanboy. It definitely made me the coolest in my graduating class.
I had passes for Fredericton, I remember meeting you down at Dolan's. Between Rory , Darren and Lance (and a few others), they carted me around to every show on that Maritime tour. I was with Lance about 20 rows back at the Halifax show. We were front and center at a really sketchy show in a parking lot at Cape Breton University (" 'you' are the venue"), and then front and center at the Charlottetown Civic Center with Rory and Lance and Darren. After meeting them all in Fredericton, me saying I was going to all four, and being front and center for the two final shows, Johnny gave me sticks, Gord gave me a mic (cuz how can you not notice the embarrassing fanboy and who knows all the words?)
After the show, we waited by the tour bus and they all came out to say hello to the fans, and I got all my stuff signed.

Speaking of "pushing through", I think that is a general theme for all of this.
Active band records an album and starts planning to tour; singer gets cancer diagnosis; after what is likely a lot of serious consideration, band decides to tour; tour occurs and ends in the band's home town; future plans TBD, nothing really specifically presented as "final", but there is the "shadow" implication.
(I may not have the details down perfectly, but I think that covers the bullet points)
It's kind of like the similar "normal life" circumstance - if you were told one of your relatives had serious cancer, you would more than likely hope to be able to plan to go see them in the near term (sooner rather than later). You would be hoping that it wouldn't be the last time you saw them, but you also know that relative to their health, they probably wouldn't be coming to see you again in the future, and you would want them to do whatever it was they needed to do to stay healthy and have the right quality/quantity (of life) balance.
In the "profound" words of Starship - "it ain't over 'til it's over". Ry Cooder doesn't need to make any travel plans quite yet.

I feel like the "this is not the last tour" people are reaching Paul is dead levels now . I feel like that hash tag started as a defiant way of saying although this is the last tour, it's a celebration of life not a funeral (for the band in general). It seems to have been taken up by people who seem to honestly think that bc to the band is being tactful about the way they frame this tour, that the band somehow doesn't realize that this is considered by literally everyone to be the last, but have failed to correct it. These guys aren't cruel. If I they thought we were getting the wrong idea , they'd correct is. The idea that the media somehow got out of hand and framed this as a farewell tour, and no one in the band could be bothered to correct them is just crazy .

I would have driven 11 hours to see them at the Imperial Theater in Saint John.
Most gorgeous theatre I have ever seen.
The only downside to it is that it is in Saint John.
