Dougie Stardust?

Ok, so there's another band out there called The Tragically Hip who have a listing for a new record on multiple retail sites? Hmm... Something weird is going on here. The one on Best Buy has an actual SKU:

Dougie Stardust - VINYL
Artist: Tragically Hip
SKU: 30740813
Release Date: 03/11/2016

I mean, if The Hip are indeed releasing a record, it would make sense that the rep had to tow the party line. The SKU thing does have me really curious.

My bet is that this is indeed the new album, but the release date is likely incorrect. Which would explain why the Hip's representatives are saying it's false information.

I'm cool with the album title as long as the album cover does not suck. The last couple of covers blew and the tour posters were weak.

I have to wonder if this will be new material or something else. I see the price of $41 dollars on the amazon.ca link and it shows vinyl as the media. It seems that something is going to be released, I'm just not so sure it will be new material. Perhaps a live album? Maybe some previously unreleased tracks? Either way, I'll be happy with something new from The Hip! Thoughts from everyone else?

I don't know what to think anymore, this is getting weird!

Even more strange is nothing from the Hip about any of it, they have never operated like this in the past...oh well at least it gives something to talk about...there are some that claim they are in the know that nothing is happening...but where does the shit come from if nothing?

want to be a nobody without peer
want to be a thought that's never done
want to shake your faith in human nature
want to break the hearts of everyone
want to be your wheezing screen door
want to be your stars of Algonquin
want to be your roaring floorboard
want to break the hearts of everyone

They're deleting any speculative posts or comments on Facebook about it.

Seriously? That's pretty silly on their part in my opinion. Hardcore fans are naturally going to be curious and want to know more information. It comes with the territory of being a high-profile rock band. Clearly there's something to this if they're deleting people's comments. Makes you wonder why they don't just suck it up and make some kind of announcement to quell the rumors.

I have a comment on the side of their facebook right now that has yet to be deleted with a picture of one of the links that say Dougie Stardust

From K-Rock this morning

Quote:There are rumours floating around that The Tragically Hip will be releasing a new album called "Dougie Stardust" on Friday. I have it on good authority that this is NOT true. ~Sideshow

Take it for what its worth I suppose, still could be trying to keep it secret if there is anything. I guess we won't know 100% for certain until Friday.

Cool — hope they reply. I've noticed them take down one or two others.

It could be a bootleg. I've seen vinyl bootlegs of live shows and such being sold by legitimate retailers like Amazon fairly often over the past few years.

Everyone could be denying these rumours, and saying that it's false, when it just is probably the release day that's off.

Dougie says: Friday is the new Tuesday.
And nobody messes with Dougie.
