I like the idea of remastering that album specifically. It is a case where production seemed to undermine the music somewhat - although, paradoxically, it's also their most successful album. Bottom line is, the band was never happy with the sound of the record and apparently have taken advantage of the chance to fix it. Good on 'em.
I'll be sacrilegious and suggest that even DFN could benefit from the same treatment. There's something quite tinny in the sound on their greatest record. It'd be intriguing to hear it remixed to achieve a fuller sound.
As for the tour: I have no interest in it whatsoever, because I have no interest whatsoever in the Hip as a nostalgia act. Unless they're going to radically re-interpret the songs (which I doubt), this is the most pointless tour they've ever done IMHO. I'm surprised Downie agreed to it, but I guess he can see the way the wind is blowing; when I caught them in Vancouver on the NFPA tour only a small number of tracks from the new record made the setlist. They're a nostalgia act whether they like it or not, irrespective of however strong or weak their new stuff might be, so I can't blame them for rolling with it and cashing in. But personally that is, again, of zero interest barring a creative reconstruction of the songs.
