Hip Tour in Jan/Feb 2015

I came back here expecting to see a livelihood of excitement for these shows, but I see with those projected prices it is more disbelieve than anticipation, which I do get. I may just stick with this vinyl reissue and call it a night.

I think I'm still going to have to see one show (not that I have a lot of options being on Vancouver Island, as opposed to Ottawa, now). I would love to see a western US tour, but for now it looks like the Victoria show will be it for me, especially with the $145 price tag. I'd much rather see them in a smaller venue in the US, but I'm hoping they will be playing more than just FC and Yer Favourites for the arena shows. Either way, I'll be able to finally hear We'll Go Too and The Wherewithal live.

Below is the list of shows I've been to, and not once have they played Fifty-Mission Cap.

Was lucky enough to see Pigeon Camera, as well as Lionized, once each though.

Anyways, checking off Looking For A Place To Happen, Eldorado, We'll Go Too, The WhereWithal will be great.

Courage as an opener... hmmm... haven't seen that before.

It gets it out of the way early; I like that. Kind of like when they play NOIS 2nd in the setlist; the casual fans get amped up, and the hardcore ones don't have it hanging over their heads.

No sure we should assume its going to be played in the same order as the tracks on FC.

Or that the whole concept will start with FC. When Roger Waters toured "Dark Side", it wasn't performed until after intermission. Similar when Rush toured "Moving Pictures" it wasn't done until after intermission as well. I am going to guess this might be the same format, they come out, do a mix of songs, intermission, FC in exact order, encore of a few songs. Well that is if I had to guess anyways....

I've still have mixed feelings over this whole thing. I had my hopes up for a new album, so now I feel a little let down - seeing Gord so energized this summer, and Paul coming off a decent solo tour, I thought we'd see something really great. I'm not sure I'm a fan of bands issuing re-releases or "greatest hits" type of things - to me it feels like a cop-out - like "we're too lazy to get creative right now, so in the meantime we'll buy some time re-releasing old stuff to tide people over".

But, I'm interested to see what this is all about - I've never been to a full album type of show. I have faith in the guys and have a feeling they'll throw in something we weren't expecting. I too, will be interested to see if they sell out the arenas, given the show format, and the prices.

What can you do. They're all gone and we'll go too.

Lots' of options. I hope they play FC in it's entirety (12 songs), then take an intermission. Come back and play another set (10-12 songs) and then one or two song encore. I think that's reasonable. Getting greedy, I'd really dig if they did a couple of cool things 1) play the outtakes or b sides (blonde solid, radio show....etc) and 2) do an acoustic set to open the second half of the show with (ala 09 tour).

I've seen a few "album" shows over the years, my favorites were The Church (under the milky way) who did THREE full albums in the exact running order with two intermissions (no encores) in 2010. They did albums from 09, 93 and 87. They had a terrific sound and stage show, complete with an extra musician etc. I also liked Cheap Trick's album tour (I think it was around 96). CT played multiple club dates and alternated a different album each night (one of their first 3), then stayed out and played about 10 more songs (hits and rare), then a 2 song encore.... both were very cool. Springsteen played full albums on the last tour too...didn't announce it, just did it in the middle of his long shows... that was epic.

I am excited and totally into the idea of doing an album tour for FC as long as it is done right! What I wouldn't want to see is them come out and perform FC and then Poets, NOIS, ABAC and Blow and then that's it... They're better than that...I have confidence they're gonna bring the goods! :thumb:

There are enough 35-55 age Casual Hip fans who have more than enough disposable income or vacant visa room that the pricing isn't even a thought. Not one bit. Look at the Canadian NHL arena's that people pay $150-$300+ for tickets to the same game that is on in HD at home. The Hip hardcore's have heard that whole album FC more or less on many tours over the years. Fully was the Radio hit album too so many fans who aren't into their last 3-4 albums love this format (it's a guarantee for them on what they will hear) and every seat in Canada will sell out no problem regardless of a 30-40 weeping wanda's on hipbase. I would have chose DFN for an Album Series but that wouldn't have brought out as many $135 type fans I suppose..... If your into the Band , you find a way to go every 2 years... maybe not to 4-7 shows like some of us road warriors did on Phantom Power or the 2009 beauties.... but it's just not that time. They are not PJ nor Bruce. Gord is Gord and there is no stopping him....In tune, different phrasings, screaming, acting instead of singing ?? .he is interesting..so many times I hope for pure singing, I love it when he does, the mix is perfect and then sometimes I just giggle his latest "dance move"... who know's where he'll be for the new shows? I'm in the phase of enjoying my daughter (12) enjoying the band I've followed for so long....

This hasn't happened for a long time and it won't happen this time.

Eesh. $140 to hear "Pigeon Camera"? Think I'll wait till closer to show date and StubHub a cheap single.

At the risk of saying something mean about one of my favourite bands...a twenty-second anniversary tour of an album, at least a third of which they play live every night, sounds like an awful lot like a cash grab to me. Assuming the rest of the songs are radio hits (and they will be) it's touch-and-go for me.

I haven't posted in a LONG time. Mostly because there hasn't been anything I've felt worth posting about.

I am not disappointed by this news, but I'm not overly excited either. Reason being, the last big tour with the screaming and greatest hits just took a lot out of me. I am hopeful for the double sets like OLP did when touring Clumsy and Spiritual. My biggest concern is obviously the similarity in the non FC songs, and the prices mean I won't be hopping the border for any shows in Canada. Maybe Cleveland.

That said, I worry they won't fill the FNC in Buffalo but I'm hoping I'm wrong. To me, selling 35,000 tickets over 4 nights in Artpark does NOT mean they can sell anything close to 18,000 for an arena. I think they underestimate how many of us went to some, if not all of those multi-night shows.

Either way, I haven't heard The Wherewithal since the IVL tour so that is fun!
