#46

Moosehead Wrote:So I wonder if the remastered Fully Completely tracks that made it onto Yer Favourites/Hipeponymous (more than half the album) are the same versions as will be on this, or if they were all remastered again from scratch?
I'm excited to be able to remove the old FC and Yer Favourites from my digital rotation 'shuffle all'.

didnt they re master all the album
like 10 years ago or so ?
i remember them saying they were doing this

so confusing! the hip cannot do anything right!

Anybody have a link where you can hear the remastered version of Radio Show? I can't seem to find it anywhere, and the Hip don't appear to be streaming it on their site.

The problem with this album is not the mastering, it's the the way it was recorded (drums, snare to be more specific). No remastering is going to fix it.

For those of you asking how to find the new single, you can download Radio Show for $1.29 right now on iTunes. It's worth it.

The setlist for the live show is all the songs from FC (in a different order) plus Twist My Arm.

As far as "2 unreleased tracks" goes, I purchased an official release of the fast version of So Hard Done By on the Scared single decades ago, so it isn't really unreleased. Was really hoping for other unreleased songs like Blonde Solid and You See Details. Oh well...still excited for this.

Well, whatever they did to the Fully Completely songs on Yer Favourites release really helped. Especially Looking For A Place To Happen which gained some audible audio at the end! Would be good to get that treatment for the other songs. A full re-recording wouldn't seem very authentic at this point either.

By the sounds of soundcliud, doesn't sound to me like Radio Show was remastered. Sounds like the '92 mix of FC.

Does this feel like a gimmick money grab to anyone else but me? The live show should be cool. i would guess that you will hear fully front to back and a decent encore or second set if they have that in them. but for some reason this band has seemingly lost the ability to dig deep and mix up sets from night to night. So they go back and learn fully over again and play the same stuff over each night of the tour. id be impressed if they played road apples one night, then fully, then dfn. or just record a decent record on par with any of those albums. i hate being negative about this and it could be really cool. but, just feel like they are pandering to the base a bit. i appreciate the excitement and as always hope im wrong. but this is nothing new from the hip. i've heard the entire record already over the course of 20 or so years. and radio show didnt make the cut the first time around. shdb is what it is. anyway, always excited for new stuff, often disappointed and always the pessimist. hope this leads the band to a new beginning.

I wouldn't exactly call the reissue a money grab. It's just par for the course for a lot of bands these days, and it's simply a new and creative way to sell a physical product in the age of digital downloads, iTunes, and streaming. You're not really buying it for the album anyways. You're buying it for all the cool bonus stuff that they include. Personally I'm a collector, and I still love buying physical media. So the reissue thing is pretty cool in my opinion, especially when they include all these extra goodies.

Ya know what the real money grab is? The ticket prices for these shows. Even if the Hip busted out every rarity in their catalogue on this tour, $140 for a Hip show is beyond ridiculous. Christ, I only paid $80 for Pearl Jam, and those guys put on an epic 3-hour marathon, which is something I doubt the Hip would ever do at this point. The average ticket price for U2's 360 tour was $90-$100, which makes sense because they're f'n U2, the biggest band on the planet. The fact that a Hip ticket costs $50 more than a U2 stadium show is absolutely insane.

Looks like I'm going to attempt getting tickets for the Bell Centre show.

I would have loved to have seen this big show at the ACC, but $90x2 tix is a hell of a lot more appealing that $145x2 tix.

So Montreal it is!
