Setlist Problem and Upcoming Tour Setlists

Gunn Wrote:Like a previous poster stated, they don't owe us a damn thing. yet, they still give us what we want. New albums and tours.

I'm not sure anyone here is saying that he band "owes" us anything. In my case, I just want to point out that I would definitely be going to more shows per tour if the setlists were more varied. This is probably the case with most hipbasers, but we're a niche market. The majority of attendees at a concert would never consider going to more than 1 show per tour so it's not like the band is losing any money by not varying their setlists.

TTH: Vancouver 2004 | Victoria 2007 (x2) | Victoria 2009 (x2) | Solana Beach 2009 | Los Angeles 2009 | Victoria 2012 |
Portland, OR 2012 | Toronto #2 & #3 2016 || GD: Victoria 2010 | Montréal 2014

The whole topic of "fan entitlement" is well covered in the Billy Corgan Q interview posted in another topic. Its well worth the listen.

it's all good, and whatever they decide to play, is better than absolutely nothing, eh!
it's been a really really great ride with zero complaints. i love the hits equally as much as the rarities.
especially, i count my blessings every single day. i'm just happy they are delivering new quality music. that is all i can really hope for!!

It's not about the setlist
Us addicts are 2% of the overall audience
It's the band
It's those 1 or 2 moments when they hit their stride
It's a night away from work & todo-lists
We've been given fair ticket prices for decades
It is what it is and ultimately our choice to load the visa for 1 or 5 shows
MAv won't take this thread to Gord Sinclair & beg for Highway Girl
Mange your concert finances and expectations based on the reality of this tour
Fans with 100's of shows or the dreamer looking for Born In The Water... Is hard to satisfy
As a few have said, stay positive and make the best of the Live Hip Shows u gobble up.

Absolutely. This way of thinking has really increased my enjoyment level the last couple years. You have to manage your own expectations or risk disappointment.

Well said. I do however feel that it is possible to be positive and critical at the same time. Managing expectations is great advice but there will still be times you are dissappointed with a certain aspect of the show. Voicing these disappointments doesn't make you less of a fan and often makes for a more interesting discussion.
