this is true because Dougie left town absolutely laden with magical stanley cup rings.
Mats is exactly the Leaf that Gilmour was -- i.e. the heart and soul of the team while he was at the helm.
Mats has been saddled with nobodies here since Day One. His best wingers were an aged Steve Thomas and a grinder named Renberg. If Mogilny and Mats had been able to put together a couple of healthy seasons and if Quinn hadn't insisted on keeping talented scorers off Mats' line, the results would have been fantastic.
There is nothing better in hockey -- nothing better -- than the look on Mats' face when he sets up his crappy winger-du-jour with yet another golden opportunity and the average joe finally buries it. The smile on Sundin's face is the look of a true captain.
Hope he's back real soon,
ct
Amen, brother.

anybody that knows anything about hockey knows that DOUG GOLMOUR OWNS THE PLAYOFFS! the same cannot be said for your beloved Mats, wether or not Gilmour was wearing a C at the time is irrelevant, because i said Sundin wasn't even half the Leaf that Gilmour was, not that he wasn't half the captain...at least get your shit straight when you respond to things...

OK, I know Doug Gilmour was a great player in his relatively short time with the Toronto Maple Leafs... but who is Doug Golmour??

Anyway, cfern has shown conclusive proof on how clutch Sundin is, so I don't have much more to add in that regard... but it is nice to see so many Sundin supporters on the board. For cfern, Chris Tanz, and Jeff, high fives all around! :thumb:
Right back at ya, J-Monster. May I be the one to exclaim a spirited
GO LEAFS GO!! GO LEAFS GO!!

But I keep getting told by the experts that the Leafs suck.
