Who is the biggest Hip fan on planet earth??

Gord's mom.

Which Gord?

And what about Paul's, Rob's, or Johnny's mom??

Just wondering... Smile

I found an old article in the Whig-Standard in which Rob's dad reminisced about Rob and Gord S's first bands in the basement "right underneath the dining room" and putting up sound-muffling mattresses against the walls "to protect the neighbours. I never really understood why they had to be so loud in such a small space, but they were having fun and it's worked out well."

And I read somewhere that "Fifty-Mission Cap" was first played in Johnny's parents' dining room--they were out of town and the band pushed all the furniture to one side and turned the dining room into rehearsal space.

At the very least their parents were hilariously patient--although Judge Baker, in the same interview, remarked, "Some of Rob's music is lovely, but a lot of it I just don't get." Dunno if that counts as a fan or not!

Yep, I've got the entire boot and that stuff is just pure gold.

Some guy acquainted with the band? Confusedcratch:
He was a member of the band!

????????? So what? not when they had made a name for them selves he wasn't?
There is no historical significance of a half ass painted wall of graffiti sorry.
Someone who didn't know Davis Manning was a member wouldn't find any significance.
Actually I did no that he was a member of the band.
Uh huh...

NMAS Wrote:Do you have any hip stuff with Davis in it??? I doubt it.
Yep, sure do! Great stuff too. :thumb:

Im sure it is just like all things Hip Right.

Perhaps the inspiration for some of their videos where they are performing in cramped living rooms, with the furniture pushed aside... Darkest One, Poets?

On another note, Judge Baker was my mom's figure skating coach... I should ask her if Rob ever came out to practices, and if he had the same haircut way back when.

Seriously, folks, if your public library subscribes to any electronic newspaper archives, you really should try searching the Whig-Standard's archives for stories about the judge. (Try "Phil Baker" or "P.E.D. Baker".) Between the figure skating, the "sleeping judge" nickname (he used to listen to evidence with his eyes closed because he felt he could recognize a lie better if he concentrated on the voice) and the stories about making defendants faint in the witness box, he'd be interesting even if he wasn't Rob Baker's dad. If I wrote legal thrillers or police procedural novels, I'd be creating a Judge Baker character even as we speak.

I've heard horror stories about Judge Baker. Never had the pleasure of being tried in front of him, but I've heard drawing him is like Lionel Hutz got Judge Snyder after "accidently" running over his "dog"

Cheers

I came to Kingston this weekend to visit some friends of my girlfriend. The one thing I wanted to do while I was here was see the wall. I couldn't find it today and checked online to see that it is now gone. I cannot believe that the town of Kingston could let such a thing happen. This wall was a historical monument. One day when the tragically hip are no longer around, this wall would have been visited by Canadians much like Abby Road in Britian or Jim Morrisons grave to a smaller degree. Why would you paint over something on your business that literally thousands of Canadians come to see every year. Wouldn't that attract customers? Morons. Let's face it, the Tragically Hip are Canada's beattles and play and live with the heart that all Canadians should. This is very very sad. :x.

To the idiots that painted over the wall. Goto Hell. That is where you belong.
