The Live Between Us Wall....
#1

As many of you know, the wall located down an alley on King Street and Princess Street here in Kingston has carried the fine "The Hip Live Between Us" artwork of Davis Manning for many years.

It is my sad duty to inform you that this is no longer. A new retailer occupying the space within that buildings walls has decided to paint over it.

Truly a sad day.

Joe.

Well you know what they say, all good things must come to an end. but yes a truelly sad sad day.

The owner must not be a Hip fan.

For those who never got the chance to see it up close and personal...

Thanks for that pic, Ive never been to Kingston, but its too bad its being painted over, I was hoping to come down and pray to it  Hopefully some artist can make a nice mural of the band somewhere else, it is their hometown, I think it would be great.

Imagine a world before the "beginning was the word.”

Joe, Pat, Tina, and any other Kingstonian's.... I certainly hope that the significance of the wall has been expressed to the new owners. Or have they already painted over it?

Is there time to have it declared a heritage site? Smile

sorry Chris, it has been completely painted over with an awful grey paint...the city should have recognized the significance of the wall and protected it.....imo

I'm heading downtown this afternoon Chris, I'll check out if it's been painted over as of yet.

Methinks a letter to the Whig-Standard is in order

Cheers

I wish that there was some way that the band could have saved it...

If the Hip wall is beat, where's that leave you and me?

Man, that's truly sad. It's a part of the city's history for Christ sakes. The new property owners must be completely unaware of the significance of the wall, otherwise I'll bet they wouldn't have painted over it. Oh well, at least I got to see it up close the last time I was in Kingston. I have photos too! Just out of curiosity, is Bubba's still there? I love that place. They have great poutine.

I was just gonna do that myself. And I don't even live in Kingston.
