I have the same problem with this one as I did with the best band ever....

I think Dylan is God (visit my church: http://www.geocities.com/churchofbob/), but is he "better" than Hendrix or Neil Young? Better how?

I'm a huge Hendrix fan, too. Dylan was a huge influence on Hendrix, but does that make him "better?"

From this list I'd say it's a 3-way tie between Dylan, Neil Young, and the Boss. Lennon was great as well, but I just don't like him as much as the other guys.

I thought George Harrison had an interesting solo career, very nice music. Im not saying he was the "greatest" but I thought Id bring him up anyway. I still think Prince should be there!!!!!!!!! :wink:

IMHO opinion, there is no contest. Out of the list above, Dylan was the most influential, and his style can be heard in every other musuicain named above. I remmber hearing an interview with Rick Danko from The Band on time, he said something to the effect of "no matter whatr type of music you play, sooner or later you are influenced by Dylan in some manner".

A lot of people joke around about Dylan's voice, but ther is so much more, his lyrics are absolutely incredible and full. His voice is getting a little harsh over the years but he still puts on a hell of a show. I have seen him a t least once a year over the past 15 years or so and it never gets dull. His backing band, the crowd, its not just a concert its an event.
