I agree with everything above except for the fact that it was a good version of Brother Down - it was wayyyy too mellow! I have seen Sam 3 times and he rocked it at the end every time. I have to say that Leno version was far too generic for the very fickle mainly US audience. Thoughts?

Generic is what the US audience wants isn't it? The most popular bands in the states are the definition of "generic".

I do agree that it was mellow but it isn't a good format to show your chops- one song on late night show to a fairly robotic audience. I'm sure the song sounds a lot better in the context of a live concert.

First, let me say that I am a huge fan of Sam, but his Leno appearance was lacking energy and was very generic as mentioned above. I think he could have kicked up the energy a bit and still kept the U.S. audience with him.

However, did you see the face he made during the "I got eyes that can see through fantasy" line, he looked like psycho. I used Tivo to pause the show and he looked possessed.

Agreed, but since he'll be spending the next coupla months opening for the Hip, I think that there is a better chance that Nirvana puts out a new album before Sam does [/sarcasm]. (I'm learning on some of these threads that intended sarcasm REALLY needs to be pointed out.)
