Just finished watching Jay Leno. He ended by announcing next weeks guests, and he said Sam Roberts which I think he said Monday.
Wow, Sammy is really making the rounds. The U.S. talk shows love their Canadians. Kathleen Edwards played Letterman twice after her debut album came out, and then she did Leno not too long afterwards. Sarah Harmer also played Letterman during her last tour.
It is Monday: <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.nbc.com/nbc/The_Tonight_Show_with_Jay_Leno/guests/">http://www.nbc.com/nbc/The_Tonight_Show ... no/guests/</a><!-- m -->

Maybe I'll be able to catch this one - I missed him on Conan.
Why in the hell can't the Hip's management book them on a show such as this?
I agree, no offense against Sam Roberts but his newest cd is based on his EP release, which was what 2 years ago?? Fer Christ's sake, Conan regularly has musical guests who don't get regular radio exposure or name recognition in the mainstream (ie The Eels, Goldfinger, etc) so it can't be that hard to get a booking on Conan or the show after Letterman. what gives?? no doubt............i'm sick of trying to explain the hip to people down south.
matter of fact i quit trying. you can show people a steak but you cant make them try it. i'm talking one of those aged steaks that melt in your mouth. :roll: Confusedcratch:
they know not what they miss. :thumb:
I've seen the Hip 34 times,15 of those in venues with less then 1000 people. Part of me is glad I don't share them with my fellow Americans. Those same people call me crazy because they don't get it and if the masses could see The Hip live they would get it , but then I would have to sit next to some punk college kid that came for the tailgate and not the band. With 4 shows for me in the next 2 weeks in small places I say let Roberts do Leno that way I can enjoy a beer with true hip fans. :thumb:
pumped to see Sam. hope he plays Brother Down
Jay Leno said he was touring with The Hip! that was a little exciting!
and he did play Brother Down.. sounded great!
Yeah, I thought the boys had a good performance of Brother Down.

Meanwhile Leno's viewers are going "Tragically who??" Good on Jay for mentioning them though. That's cool. I wouldn't be surprised if Sammy went out of his way to ask Jay to mention them.

I saw him too, my first time ever hearing them and he was pretty cool. He's what I would call a well matched up opening act for the Hip. I'm looking forward to seeing him open.
Sam Roberts IS the future of rock & roll.... Seen him 5 times already (3 of those w/ the Hip), and can't wait to add a few more shows... The shows at the Hummingbird Centre in 2002 were amazing... first time I've ever seen an opening band for the Hip actually elicit a reaction from the crowd... he said, "Get out of your seats!" and the entire crowd stood up... If you haven't seen him before, do NOT miss him.

I've seen Sam 10 times so far, 5 with the Hip. He definitely is the future of Rock and Roll. They played at Thursday in the Square (Free Concert Series in Buffalo) as the headliner and completely kicked ass. Everyone at the show was blown away...it was unreal.

As a note, Sam Roberts will Headline St. Catharines Event In The Tent this friday..I will be there...it will be awesome.
