The only complaint I have about RUSH is that they stick to the script. No jams...ever (unless you count that thing Lerxst does and even that is scripted). Say what you want, respect them or not, but no one can say they aren't awesome musicians...Geddy's voice is weird (I can't tell you how many of my friends say that about Gord...my buddy's wife calls him the goat!) but that aside, they rock...no make up, no costumes, no horn sections or back up singers...just hard power chord rock and roll.

I have NEVER understood peoples' objections to Gord's voice. It's a full-bodied masculine howl! He can carry a tune and he has a strong, resonant voice. Some of these conscientious objectors are even fans of people why by CONSENSUS have weird voices! Bob Dylan? Love the guy, but he's a bizarre singer most of the time. Neil Young? Weird warbler with a capital S-T-O-N-E-D. Gord? Just a good husky, throaty snarl.

Actually, I hear quite a bit of Neil in Gord's voice on a lot of songs.

Rush is one of the best bands ever to come out of Canada, if not the world. As much as we appreciate the Hip for what they can do, which sounds they can produce, and how they have evolved, no band has evolved as much as Rush. Caress of Steel and Moving Pictures are two of the best rock albums EVER... and Neil Peart is a mad man... best drummer of the year from '82-91 according to drummer magazine. Rush gets a bad rap because of their experimentation (especially in the mid to late '80s), but these are three of the greatest muscians in each of their specialized instrumental categories. From Zepplinesque mood rock in the mid '70s to heavy-alternative in 2002 and everything in between (even a rap solo in Roll The Bones) these guys can play and are not over-rated... they are just weird and extremely talented musicians... just listen to Fountain of Lamneth or 2112 and tell me these boys can't play...
