i cant listen to another mediocore band butcher a ramones song again. how many times have they put "i believe in miracles"on their bootlegs? 10, 20?

think about that one...ed and the rest of the band loved the ramones and played it as a tribute to them...and 40$ for boots...where did you come up with that number?? Payed just under 30CAD for mine and i wasnt forced into buying them...foget it...this isnt worth my time

Milk the fans?? Gimme a freakin' break. The bootlegs are completely financed by Pearl Jam themselves, and I'm guessing it ain't cheap. The only help they got from the label was for distribution, and that was only for a small handful of them. I read that when they originally pitched the idea to Sony, the label apparently told them it was career suicide, so the band said "screw it" and put them out themselves.

The majority of the boots are only sold directly from their website, and most people only buy a few, or just the specific show that they attended. If that's "milking the fans" then I'm more than happy to be milked for all I'm worth. I'd much rather pay $30 for a fully mixed/mastered crystal-clear soundboard recording than download some crappy low grade audience boot. This is possibly the coolest thing any band has ever done for their fans, period. I could think of plenty of easier ways for a band to make money off their fans, but releasing over 100 double-live bootlegs is not one of them. This kind of project costs money, and ya can't blame Pearl Jam for at least trying to break even, especially if it's their own cash that went into it.

Jimmy, do you know any fan that would buy all of Pearl Jam's live shows? or anybody who would buy all of the Hip's live shows if the band put out as many soundboard boots as Pearl Jam has? I don't think so, therefore the market is limited and its not like Eddie and the band can flick a switch and presto!, produce 100 live albums on the cheap, unless they want to not pay themselves for playing on the live albums.I disagree with Eddie's political views but seriously, guy, stop being a jerk

Ah, I see. So by your logic, anytime a band puts out anything to sell, it's nothing more than a cash grab to milk their fans?? That's ridiculous. Yes my cash went into it. That's what music fans do. They buy records by artists they like in order to support the artists, which enables the artists to keep making great art. That's how it works.
