Shots fired - Montreal

BuffaloHipFan Wrote:Everyone defended Montreal when I had my beef.

I know this is an isolated incident, but

Wake up Canada, Montreal is out of control.

I'm no conservative, but you can't be this liberal.

Tougher gun laws need to be the reality.

Could be the least sensitive/most idiotic post this year.

This is tragic. I heard it on the news yesterday morning and couldn't believe it. This kind of garbage in Montreal again? A coward won't die alone.

You're missing the point. This was a horrific event which could have happened ANYWHERE, even in Canada. And this time it happened in Canada. If the world is to become a safer place, humanity must work as one to end ALL forms of terrorism, inlcuding this one. All I'm saying is that the governments of this world need to better address these issues. There is a relaxed ideal out there in some governements that everything is fine. This is a f'd up world.

To prevent these things from happening again, actions need to be taken.

In Buffalo, we recently had an inmate escape from an Erie County jail and shoot 3 cops, killing one. Part of the blame goes to Eric County sheriff, Tim Howard, who operated his jail in a way that a prsioner could use a can opener to escape through the roof.

My one point with all of this:

PREVENTIVE MEASURES MUST BE TAKEN IN THE FUTURE!

Cop killer, terrorism, car thieves, and an Emo kid gone wrong lumped up into one tidy little package.

What "action" do you suggest taking?

There is no "policy", "regulation", "program", "legislation", "study", or any other measure we can take to prevent these types of tragedies.

All we can do is love our children, be involved in their lives, and take a positive, active role in their growth and development.

If every parent and guardian can do this sufficiently and responsibly, these things simply will not happen.

Sure sounds like it.

On a goth website, Kimveer Gill describes himself as a potential killer and admits that his favorite video game is Super Columbine Massacre.

He also says somewhere on a blog, "Give them what they deserve before you go."

HIS MOTHER- "I didn't see him all day. I was looking for him" she said before bursting into tears.

It seems like he was gunned down by police though. Either way, I'm a Christian and all, but he was a scumbag who didn't deserve to grace our planet. Did his mother not notice him walking around with a mohawk and dressing like a goth? Did the mother think he was a normal kid?

With all due respect, I'm not sure how choosing to look like that translates into being a mass murderer.. :?

At this point, everything is just speculation.

It's no coincidence that the Columbine shootings and now these shootings were done by goth freaks. I do know what you're saying though. I'm pretty sure Lukas Rossi isn't gonna do something like that.

We need to solve the root of the problem, not just try to deal with the after effects. You can put up all the metal detectors, hire a billion security guards, and give everyone bullet proof jackets, but there will still be disaffected and irrational people out there in the world who, like this guy, ends up hating everyone and everything and lashing out.

I'm sure a person could rant for hours about how today's kids are neglected by parents, most often just because of time constraints and not anything sinisiter and the like........

There's a sickness around the world these days..... and sadly, in cases like this, people dont' notice who's got it until it's too late.

It certainly doesn't translate into being a mass murderer....

However, it does scream "Please give me some attention", or "please accept me", or "I'm having a difficult time finding my own identity".

These issues are common in adolescents, and they are usually not difficult to detect. It is imperative that parents / guardians / counselors pay enough attention to identify them and address them.

It's easy to direct all our disgust and contempt at the kids who commit these heinous acts, and we are awfully quick to put all the blame on them.... but in reality, the people who are most guilty in these tragedies are those failing in their roles as parents or guardians.

You can't actually believe that parents/guardians have a responsibility to their children/charges!

Sadly I think that this will be the cause of many more of these types of events...

The girl who died was only 18 years-old, and they just talked to her uncle on CBC. It's incredibly heartbreaking.
