i've always wanted to know what "cinema a'clef" is. does anyone know? it sounds like a cinema genre or movement, like 'film noir' or 'dogma'. any film students out there? would not suprise me if gord was up on his cinema.

The correct term is actually "Cinema La Clef" not sure why Gord uses "a" could just be a colloquialism I guess.

When I studied it, it was described as geurilla film making, or the ability to make stars out of people who don't even know they're being filmed, or filmed for commercial purposes at least. It's a raw, "cinema verite," super-8, documentary style film. Moore's early work, and even his latest latest documentary, somewhat fall into this category... although he wouldn't agree with that.

It's been a while since I last saw it and Heather Graham annoys the hell out of me but yes I remember it being pretty funny; Murphy and Martin do a good job.
