a friend of mine said that the first thing he thought when he heard this song was "On the Verge". I couldnt agree with him more. BTW i like SIKU better than VS.
I got it last night and didn't listen to it till this morning right before I went to work. I HATED it. Now, I just home from work and I've listened a few times and I LIKE IT! It's awesome! It reminds me of "All Tore Up", the first time I heard that song I couldn't stand it and now it's one of my fave songs on IVL.
Love that WOOOOOOO
BTW, even if I like the song, I'm not fond of how Gord sounds like he's straining his voice on the chorus.

Now I have just heard the track, and liked it straight away.....
not sure why, but with the two songs I have heard, I am getting very very excited about what the album will bring.

Firstly, I'd like to say that if I had VS in one hand and SKU in the other, I'd definitely pick VS out of the two. Probably because it's that one song per album that is put out before all others as a sort of "introduction." We are all biased being Hip fans, so I think whatever they release we'll all love.
Futhermore, there's all this talk of "Are You Ready" and "Putting Down," in my opinion, out of all The Hip's releases, "IVL" and "M@W" seemed bad. Not bad, more like too different. As you release records, you HAVE to change. Bands that do the same thing over and over get left in th dust, but these two albums (Not every song on them though) wandered too far away from The Hip. As a poet, I feel Phantom Power was the last great album, so I'm hoping for IBE.
Finally, I've been transcribing unreleased Hip songs and have discovered the Unknown song at the Horseshoe Tavern in 1988 is a Rolling Stones cover called "Down Home Girl," so ya'll can change your labels...
(Insert Palinode here)
(Taking back my previous statement like an ol' dictator)
I started listening to the Hip around UTH, RA, DFN or TATH so these newer ones (M@W, IVL) just didn't seem like the Hip. Maybe they got too into them but "A Beautiful Thing" and "As I Wind Down The Pines" are superb!

Is there any kind soul that could email me an MP3 of the song? I'm going crazy to listen to it, but I don't really have any options being here in the States. I'd glady purchase it from PureTracks (or Hip Club, for that matter) for up to $3.00, but that's not an option unfortunately.
If anybody can help me out, please fire me off a PM, and I send you my email addy. Thanks! :thumb:

I really like the song! It has a great feeling to it. I immediately envisioned drinking a beer out at the cottage the first time I listened to it. I also think it has a "Gord Solo" sound to it. I love it.
I can hear the strain in Gord's voice too..the strain to me makes Gord sound happy. Anyone else think that?

Maybe it makes Gord sound happy but I don't know if it'll make all the fans happy. I agree that it has a bit of his "solo" flavour. What reminds me of his solo stuff is when he drags out "places" or "praises" or whatever the word is in the song. It reminds me a little of "Christmastime in Toronto" and his "yeah.........".
