#16

If this were happening in or around Montreal, I'd be there in a heartbeat.

Well, as it stands right now, it looks like myself, Shannon W, and maybe some other folks will be heading down from here in Ottawa, which is "in or around Montreal." You could cross at Vermont and come with us!

Ottawa is like 4 hours from where I used to live and I now live an hour south of there. That's too far. I consider in and around Montreal like Montreal and the burbs or anything between Montreal and the US(NY)/Canadian Border.

In true Canadian fashion, the Sarnia and Wasaga crowds should come together and form one Giant Hip Gathering (In Wasaga of course...)

I'm sure there'll be some tickets for you Sarnia folk... the more the merrier. (Is that how you spell merry-er?)

Hi Guys:
I haven't yet had time to read through all posts but could someone who knows the area recommend a place to sleep, and how far to the show from the VIA station, if there is one?

When I used to go there as a kid, we always used to stay at the Mermaid. It aint the Trump Towers, but it's cheap and you can hear the beach in the morning.

Camping is also fun out there.

I'm not sure about a Via station, there might not be one in town. There are a couple of us heading down from Ottawa, as it stands now, there's a couple extra seats in the rental car if you're on the route...

The Wasaga Beach show has the potential to be legendary. I spent my childhood summers there, and I just about lost it when I read the boys were finally putting on a festival gig there. (Okay, so I lost it when Casey and Finnegan would pop up. So what, I'm easily impressed... wanna fight about it?)

The Beach...
A Bonfire....
The Huron Sunset...
The Hip...

Let's get something organized. I can bring a blanket, some sunscreen, a couple of hats, maybe a beer or a Ginger Ale or two... but really, an all day gathering of Hip Heads is in order.

I say we meet at the arcade and then hit the bean bag slides before the show.

You bastards! I'd love to join the party, but unfortunately I'm stuck here in cowtown. Right now I'm crying in my beer because my Flames just lost game 6 in triple OT. What a heartbreaker! Ah well, at least we still game 7 on Monday. GO FLAMES GO!!!

Getting back to the topic at hand, I'm hoping the Hip do a west coast tour sometime in late July or early August. There's a good chance I'll be leaving the country this summer to go teach somewhere in Asia for a year or two, and I'd love to catch a Hip show before I leave. Somehow I don't think the Hip will be touring over there this year (or any year for that matter). Anyone from Calgary up for a road trip this summer??

Thanks!
That may be an option! I'm sure Kingston would be right on your way?
Problem is we won these Via tickets and are looking for a trip to use em up. But of course I'm not going to give up the HIP show just cause the town doesn't have a train station. I'll use the tickets for Ottawa

Anyone know who else is going to be there or is it still too early for those details?

Too early. But let me chime in and say: "Does it really matter?" Smile
