Hip In Kingston

chris Wrote:It's a piss-off that the public on sale gets me better tickets than the presale.

I couldnt agree more. I figured that there was no way I could improve on 6 th rows, so didnt bother trying with the public sale and obviously people are pulling f ront rows.

I had FLR 2, Row 4 from public onsale - didn't buy 'em, just wanted to check.

This confirms that the best seats are not released through the presale.

Do people actually pay those prices!? As much as I love the hip I can't fathom paying $900+ for four tickets to a show...

Nice sell job on these, "Floor 9, row 5!" -- shouldn't they same something like only about 40 rows away from the stage. And how do they figure a $300 face value for a pair?

I wish there was a way for bands to pull tickets that appear on ebay.

Why? Thats the way life works! If you have money you can go anywhere and do anything! If there are 6800 seats available and 40000 people wanting a seat, why the heck shouldent the dude with the most money get to go???????

I always wondered about the face value of the tickets on ebay. They always seem to be about 100% higher than the printed face value

ummm so is it completely sold out or are they releasing more tickets later?

I agree with the supply/demand argument for scalping tickets. What I dont like is scalpers having the same access to tickets through fanclub/registered user presales with the intention of flipping them for the max profit and sometimes ripping off others who got screwed in the presale. On top of this, in 2003 when I was a young guy from a small town goign to see one of my first concerts in Toronto, I had to unload an extra pair of tickets when friends cancelled. Scalpers were selling for 2x face, and offering me half face for my tickets, threatening to 'punch me out' if I went to sell in 'their spot' near the parking lot entrance. This was one of the NICER comments they made, and they kept saying 'this is how we put food on our tables, get out of here' etc... SCUMBAGS.

I love how pearl jam willcalls all of their fanclub tickets to help reduce scalping. Dave Matthews Band's fanclub offers 'senority' based seating for alot of shows, where the first few rows at every show are often packed with close to decade-long members of their fanclub.

I guess I prefer a socialist approach to ticket selling. I could have been a Capitalist knob and bought as many tickets as possible during the pre-sale, then auctioned them off and made a tidy profit. And while my bank account would have allowed that, instead I'll just take my pair and know that other Hip fans will be able to buy those seats and enjoy the show.

As in one of the other posts, it would be good for bands to find ways for pre-sale tickets, meant for fans, to not appear on ebay. Though quickly looking at what's on ebay now, not really great seats so suspect they were general sale.

Same here. Multiple accounts (mine and my gfs) could have bought 6 tickets each, would have made a nice profit. As well, alot of the ebay auctions for the best sesats have already ended with 'buy it now' for pretty ridiculous prices.

At first I thought that might happen, but as the band will not be on tour at that point, a one-off for the opening is all we're likely to get.
