Well, in Bob's defense "Lang" did go by "Long" earlier in his career. But yeah, he gets players' names wrong way too often to be considered competent anymore.

I agree its definitely time for Bob to pass the mic down to someone else. He was great announcer for years and Ill miss his voice, but lately his errors are becoming bothersome..now if we can just get Neale to go with him.

Also, it was nice to see Canada win a game and score some goals again, ugly as it was a win is a win. I hope they really crank it up for the medal rounds or were sunk, the defence is looking shaky as hell, especially McCabe that guy can't cope with the big ice and fast skaters at all. The Finns made him look foolish, that's probably why he got booted out of Sweden during the lockout.

ok, mccabe did take 2 bad penalties, but c,mon, did you see him save that goal when the puck was behind brodeur?

I'm not going to defend McCabe, but it seems to me that the problem with Canada this tourney has been the offense, not the defense.

Everyone knows his specialty is the powerplay, but he's lucky if he gets on the second unit for the last 30 seconds or whatever of every given powerplay chance. Strange that his own club coach, Quinn, isn't taking full advantage of his team's best point man on the PP.

One of the other main problems is related to the offense, with the forwards. They were a little better today, but it still seems too often they are positioning themselves too far up the ice. This leaves the defensemen with few options but to try long passes, and the European teams with their trapping style gobble these up and turn them into offensive chances against us.

These issues need to be fixed tomorrow... because it's quarter-final time, go big or go home.

And guess who they play? Russia. Whoa. Confused

Yeah. Canada/Russia in a quarter final matchup. Confused

hock: A great team is going to go home without any chance of a medal. What a wide open tournament. Finland, Russia, Canada, Slovakia, Czech Rep, Sweden all have a legitmate chance of gold and ...oh yeah that Swiss team has shown that it can beat anyone on any given day.

I just don't like the penalties McCabe taking. In this tournament every team can put one hell of a first power play unit on the ice. Russia is definetley included in this.

I figured McCabe would be getting the majority of his ice time during the PP too. thats his strength.

We just got two more medals in women's speed skating (1000 metre): Cindy Klassen with the gold, and Kristina Groves with silver. Amazing!
