What a great show. It was great to meet up with Jeffro, The Holmes brothers and see Lance again. Good to finally meet Dame and Chris to put some faces to names.

This was totally an amazing concert. I was listening to Johnny Cash's version of When the Man Comes Around on the way to the show and what do you know, the hip open with it. Flamenco and Daredevil sounded amazing. Robbie was really adding some extra guitar to the songs. The New Maybe sounded amazing live and Going Going Gone was also spectacular.

The Hip seemed like they never missed a beat and were as tight as ever. I'm really craving a hip tour more than anything right now. Paul sat down for the whole show as well.

Dame told me that one of his buddies threw a cigarette up on stage and Gord stuck his hand out really fast to catch it and pretended to smoke it. He then leaned over after about a minute and give it to Jeffro. Very funny moment.

Really hope to hear or see this someone way somehow soon.

Bob Rock - a number of factors brought them together. The band was hesitant so they held a "tryout" for him (Gord S, said it was probably a tryout for them as well). Things clicked, so they extended the session, and that's that. The sessions are a lot of fun, and things are sounding great. (They seemed excited when talking about the experience.)

No firm tour plans, but there will be something next year.

Europe - yes, probably not until 2007... but nothing confirmed; just ideas being bandied about.

NYE show - No.

An album about love - I asked this question to Gord S and Paul first - Gord answered, "No, not specifically. Perhaps. We'll have to wait and see how it turns out."

And later I asked Gord D:
"Well... um.... hmmmm.... yeah. Ummm.... I dunno. I guess with the luck I've been having for the last 5 years.... maybe." And then a squint of the eyes, and a pursing of the lips.

edit : The Man Comes Around (Johnny Cash) this was played at the solo gord show in p.e.i. sounded killer !

Don't forget that they played "Going, Going, Gone" in PEI also. Both songs were dynamite.

That sounds like a ridiculously great set from the Hip. That's just not fair! :lol:

With the Bob Rock question, did you think they sensed your concern about why the band would choose him (as he tends to be associated with lame, “cock rock” and I like to think of the Hip as intelligent, “weightier” art rock)?

Also, 2007 for Europe? That’s outrageous. We get robbed!!
