You are giving record companies WAY too much credit there. Record companies did indeed set up their own sites once they brought down Napster, but the content was crap, and the "rights" were pure idiocy. If it wasn't for Apple showing them the light, they'd be struggling with it as much today as they did six years ago.
Hmmm... you know I never really did check the sites the record companies set up after the Napster takedown. If they were that bad, then it's clear they still didn't get it, which is downright pathetic.
