Bob Rock Producing Next Album - irish hip guy - 09-22-2005
Hey all...
We (Classic Rock 101) had Rob Baker live on-air yesterday talking about his show with Striper's Union later that night and revealed that Bob Rock is producing the next album and the guys are in town (Vancouver) as we speak laying tracks down.
They met with Bob rock a few weeks back and felt that we has a perfect fit... they hit it off and are at work on the album.
Rob mentioned a May or June release... of course dates can change for various reasons.
The Strippers Union show last night at the Buffalo Club was great . They played two hip songs... Puttin Down and Small Town Bringdown.
If you have the chance to catch a Strippers Union live show... definitely do it! the songs are excellent live! plus "odds" and "hip" songs as well!

Personally, I don't really think this is great news. I think Bob Rock is the most over rated Canadian producer since David Foster. Just my two cents.
In general though new Hip does equal great news

Interesting if this is true, could be good could be bad. It could be a more stripped down album which I think is needed.

A lot of people here bad mouthed Rock big time when I mentioned him in the OLP thread, but I think he did a great job with OLP's new album, and Im sure he will do the same with the Hip. Especially what he's been given to work with, even he couldn't screw it up. (I hope)

Bob Rock isn't the greatest producer ever, I'm an OLP fan and I think Gravity, 1st album Rock did with them is garbage compared to other OLP albums, like Lizard said, the new album is great
I'm sure it'll be fine, always good to have change sometimes

It's hard to say whether Bob Rock screwed up OLP or the loss of Mike Turner did. I hope it's the lack of Turner because I don't want Rock messing with the hip.
Personally I think whoever produced IBE should produce their new album.

Maybe they couldnt make it work with schedules or something like that? Have no fears all, the Hip will not let us down

I mean, it would take a pretty awful producer to fuck up new Hip stuff, and although I'm not a Rock fan, I'm sure he'll know that sometimes, not getting in the way is the best way to go.

hes done a few good albums for artists out there but to produce the hip i just dont think thats a good fit
the hips sound is different not so main stream
