So I'm flicking through the channels and come across the Blue Jays on Sportsnet. Apparently Marcum pitched 6 no hit innings and was taken out of the game. :roll: :roll: Frasor promptly comes into the game and gives up a homerun. hock: I guess Marcum wasn't pitching well enough to continue in the game.

yeah i was watching a bit of that game after the Canada/Finland game, i couldn't believe they pulled him.... that backfired in their face.

I'm not normally one to defend John Gibbons, frankly I don't think he has any business being a major league manager, but in this case I can see why he made the decision. Marcum has been in the bullpen all year and his arm isn't conditioned for long stints yet. His pregame mandate was 70 pitches, and he threw 78 before they pulled him after 6 innings. While I agree it is tough to pull a guy while he's got a no-hitter going, the way the injury bug has hit the Jays this year the last thing I would want to see is him go down with an injury because they left him in too long.

I have a bigger problem with why Gibbons used John Macdonald to pinch hit for Jason Phillips late in the game, especially when Alex Rios was sitting on the bench cratch:

I was down at the Rogers Centre tonight to see Jesse Litsch's major league debut. 8.2 IP, 1 ER, 4H. Not to shabby for a kid from double-A. I don't expect him to be the Jays' saviour or anything, but it's nice to see that there is some potential pitching talent in the system after all. All 30,000 people in the attendance booed Gibbons pretty heavily when he came out to the mound to pull Litsch with two out in the ninth after he walked a batter, and the kid got a great ovation from the crowd as he walked off the field. Would have been nice to see him get the complete game though.

Well one dude in Cincy was applauding as Gibbons pulled Litsch for an Accardo save opportunity -- I picked him up this week in the fantasy league!

Good call. The closers' job is his for the time being at least, so he should rack up a few saves, god willing. His 0.00 ERA so far this season works for me, but it sure was a nervous few minutes last night when the first thing he did was give up a single to move the potential tying run to third.

I had the privelege of watching a very good baseball game today on Sportsnet. The Indians were at home against the Twins. Santana, one of the true premier pitchers left in baseball, went against the young Carmona. Great pitching duel. 2-0 Tribe win to sweep the Twins. A complete game shutout by Carmona, a guy who wasn't even expected to make the team this season after Wedge completely mishandled him last year and almost ruined the kid's career. Santana had 11 strikeouts in 7 strong innings and his only blemishes were giving up back to back dingers in the 7th inning to Martinez and Garko. That's a baseball game.

All the Dice-K doubters should be eating there words after today, the guy is throwing terrific stuff right now and the team is firing on all cylinders.

Ped-Tits did a terrible job of keeping track of the baserunners, and is one of the slowest pitchers I've seen in a while
The basecoaches were timing him all night, and finally got their opportunity
