Hip Tour in Jan/Feb 2015
#76

I'm planning on hitting Cleveland and probably Windsor. Chicago would be cool but ticket prices are a bit steep (although they are totally in line with nearly any current band of the Hip's caliber).

This is a really cool development in my opinion. FC is a very good live album to haul out and tour for. Many bands have done the album tour and it's great that the Hip are doing it too. FC is arguably the Hip's prime album as they were really taking off in Canada at that point. The leap from clubs and smaller theaters to headlining festivals and arenas.

I must say.......I don't get the crying on here about prices, potential setlists....etc. The band can't possibly please everyone. These will be my 22nd and 23rd Hip shows (I think), I've seen Greatest Hits tours, deep album cut tours, arenas and small clubs. Not once have I been disappointed.....other than other intangibles (stupid people in the crowd).

Yes, there are some recent complaints (myself included) about GD's voice, stagnant setlists..etc. But they are more CONCERNS than complaints!

In the live venue, the music is loud as heck, the band is rockin' and there's not much focus on whether GD sings the songs just like the album. When we go back and listen to the concert afterward, it is then when we dissect all the above... Most fans DON'T do that.

We are diehard Hip fans who know the band/music/shows inside and out. Our expectation should be a very entertaining musical experience.

The Wherewithal, We'll Go Too, Pigeon Camera.... bring it on!

You know I think the venue has something to do with it...these a-holes from the Meridian Centre are gouging every penny they can from us...you should see the ice rental for youth groups which they don't even want and oh ya there is no youth rate its all one price...no wonder the ticket price is so high!

want to be a nobody without peer
want to be a thought that's never done
want to shake your faith in human nature
want to break the hearts of everyone
want to be your wheezing screen door
want to be your stars of Algonquin
want to be your roaring floorboard
want to break the hearts of everyone

Yep, not crazy about this. I wish they were playing some northwest US shows, the prices are way more reasonable.

Perhaps the prices reflect anticipated demand?

I'm pretty sure I've heard every song from FC performed live at past shows and I'm not about to spend $300+ for two tickets to an arena gig. I'd consider attending a smaller venue show with the same premise, but I'm done with arenas.

Price range for Calgary: $30 - $141. Obviously the $30 ones are nosebleed seats and the $140 ones are likely for the first 5 rows. Hopefully they'll offer a happy medium for the lower bowl seats (somewhere around the $60 range maybe?). But $140?? That is absolutely outrageous.

I do not know the difference in the extreme prices - but for $143 it better let me play the part of Billy Ray for the night.
And write the damn setlist.

Cleveland:
US $59.50
and
US $73.00

St Catharines:
CA $134.25

Vancouver:
CA $35.10
and
CA $143.80

Toronto:
CA $33.00
and
CA $144.25

That is ourageous, WTF? Clearly they are targeting a specific demographic with the higher end ticket pricing. Pretty sad actually.

I'm in for NYC and DC. Come on folks it's the Tragically fricken Hip playing Fully Completely live! If you can't get stoked about that then it's not the band that got old it's you.
