If you could eliminate one band from existence
#61

I would also get rid of Maroon 5 and Hoobastank and I think the world would be a better place (at least musically).

I tell ya 6 months ago I would have said the same thing...BUT...I have a friend who is 100% into music..has the best catalog of disks, yet...I have had a hard time to turn him onto the awesomeness that is the hip...., I'm still working on it. He's digging the Livepomymous disks I gave him...he likes llive stuff...anyway, he especially likes Inevibility..."all men's misery...". anyway; He is far more into hockey than I am...man...yet another reason...I don't get it?, sorry...

he got me into Maroon 5...give it a good listen..all the way through... a solid disk. Something the woman can liststen to, and you can groove your thing too..In fact its a hard album to follow up. Kind of like Live, collective soul, Coldplay....it is.. that good. I know I just imasculated (sp) myself but oh well....I stand my my statements...LZ give em a chance...

I was half liking Maroon 5 for about 30 seconds in Moncton. Then the lead singer began to sing. All downhill from there. I thought I was listening to a computerized warble of what almost sounded like it maybe came from a human voice.

Anything Green Day has done post-Dookie deserves a good bitch-slapping.

They get my vote.

For the record, U2 rocks.

My vote would go for Nicklecrap.

I just couldn't like Maroon 5 or Coldplay- and I tried, I really did. But I'll never understand why ppl are over the top about those bands, ever. Nothing sticks there for me.

And I want to change my vote to AC/DC. They SUCK.

No, they they rock so hard you can't handle it.

Seriously, how one can be a fan of rock and roll but dislike / disrespect AC/DC, the epitome of ROCK, will forever be a mystery to me...

Well. I guess it depends on what definition of "epitome" you're using.

This is a little like the Stones argument - AC/DC needed to evolve past 3 chord songs and the schoolboy uniform about 20 yrs ago. Eee.

But, they wouldn't be the first band I'd vote off the island (Black Eyed Peas!).

Hey, I never said I didn't respect them. But Sam pretty much summed it right up for me, and their songs are all the same, to me anyway. All their leads singers (LMAO) all make me want to spoon my eardrums out. I think AC/DC is mostly a guy's type of head banging band, you know? Smile

Well, yes - that's why i used the word epitome - an ideal example. The roots of rock were sewn in 3-chord progressions, up-tempo blues riffs, and subject matter / attitudes that was considered taboo and risque for the music of preceding generations.

This is a little different from the Stones argument where the slant was whether their act was still relevant when they are propped up onstage in their sixties. I don't think AC/DC is living the same charade as the Stones are. They've released 3 albums in the last 16 years (and they all shred)

Besides - I'm not sure i even agree that the Stones OR AC/DC belong in the "need to evolve" category. My opinion is that a band like the Stones, looking and moving and playing like they do at over 60, are not doing justice to their legacy - i don't think evolution is an issue.

AC/DC strips R'n'R down to its bare bones. It's honest and straightforward, and pardon the pun, it shakes my foundation every time. The quality doesn't worsen, and onstage, they seem younger than they are. I never tire of it because it kicks that much ass.

You can hate 'em all you want. But they do NOT "suck".

Didn't you say AC/DC "SUCKS"?

For some reason, I always thought saying that was a form of DISrespect.

My point exactely, anyone who says they flat out "suck" doesn't know rock and roll period. And to make fun of Bonn Scott is something I wont stand for around here, like it or not, that man was a pure rock and roller in every sense of the word, and he kicked ass.
