I love the album cover too.

I couldn't disagree more. I totally hate the cover art. Fortunately that's my only complaint about the album. I think it's great, and totally under-appreciated. Tiger the Lion is one of my favorites too, but I think all of the songs are great. Perhaps it doesn't flow from beginning to end as smoothly as some of the other albums, but each song is fantastic.

The cover is a little much, but I like it because it's unique. Actually, instead of looking at the cover straight on, angle it away from your face until it looks very thin, and you can read the words TRAGICALLY a lot clearer. I guess I always thought that aspect of it was pretty cool.

I agree with Hairbird that the M@W is very under-appreciated. Songs like "Sharks", "M@W", "Puttin Down", "Stay", "The Completists", "As I Wind Down The Pines", "Train Overnight", "Tiger The Lion", and "Lake Fever" are all very well crafted songs. No disrespect to AC/DC because I like them, but a band has to be constantly tinkering with it's sound to move forward. I won't be listening to the Nickelbacks of the world in twenty years the same as bands that reinvented themselves but kept their identity like U2, The Hip, Pearl Jam, etc.

As far as the album cover, it's all right but not the best cover the Hip have had. I think TATH is a CLASSIC cover! :thumb:

It's IVL week. This is their crappiest album in my opinion. I like "Use it Up", "The Darkest one" and "The Dire Wolf", but it's the only album where I don't really Love a single song.

When "It's A Good Life..." first came out I loved it, but after a while I found it pretty annoying. it's that one note Gord keeps going back to: Somewhere to GO! somewhere to GROW! somewhere to GO! Change the note!!!! has this annoyed anyone else?? cratch:

I love that CD, every single song on there...esp. Dire Wolf and Throwing Off Glass.

My least fave Hip CD, however, is Trouble At The Henhouse.

I have to say that good life was not very well liked by myself when it first came out. However, once I listened to it more and more I grew to love it. On any cd I make that song is always the last one I put on,, I just love jamming to it on the way home from work in my car...

I agree, I loved IVL. I was a little put off by "Good Life" after my first listen, but now it's one of my favorites on the album. The only song I'm not 100% crazy about is "Leave". "A Beautiful Thing", "Dire Wolf", and "Darkest One" are my personal highlights. Oh, and "Use It Up", due to the Springsteen reference. I have to wonder, do you think the boys were listening to Bruce during the making of IVL? "Forest Edge" metions Darkness on the Edge of Town which is one of the best Springsteen albums out there...

Leave is one of my faves on the album! I was a little iffy on the album as a whole for about a year when I gave it another listen... I love it now! Definately not my fave, but there are probably a few under it as well! Leave and A Beautiful Thing and Dire Wolf are the highlights for me.

I think it's a bit of a shame that gord has come outright and said that throwing Off Glass was his favourite song off the record. I think that might be The Hip's worst performance ever. I find IVL just too bland. I love Good Life, one of those ones, I'm not really sure why. But as far as the rest of the tracks, as someone here has said before, they're so
paint by numbers." Ready, Use, Darkest, Jet, Tore Up...rocking songs I guess, but as generic as they come. Aside from the awesome cover art, I was not a fan of IVL...
