In Between Evolution Countdown!
#1

Here's something to do if you're really pumped for the new album and maybe want to make the time seem to go a little faster.

This is something I did before the last couple of Hip albums. We've got exactly 9 weeks to wait starting today. Every tuesday or sometime during each week, listen to the album (+ extra stuff recorded during the album era).

1. EP Week - (April 27 - May 3)
2. UTH Week - (May 4 - May 10)
3. RA Week - (May 11 - May 17)
4. FC Week - (May 18 - May 24)
5. DFN Week - (May 25 - May 31)
6. TATH Week - (June 1 - June 7)
7. PP Week - (June 8 - June 14)
8. M@W Week - (June 15 - June 21)
9. IVL Week - (June 22 - June 28
10. IBE Week - (June 29! - July 5)

So this week re-discover the awesome Tragically Hip EP. It's way under rated!

Great idea, but I do that anyways haha.

I agree, a lot of people have told me that they didn't buy the EP, or didn't like it..but I thought it was awsome.

This might be one of the sweetest ideas I've seen in a long time. I ran through the EP as soon as I saw this. I always forget how many really good songs are on that album.

I'm all in for the idea, but c'mon: am I the only one who thinks the EP Sucks something fierce?

I mean, I know Picasso's early work wasn't as good as his later masterpices... but the EP has always been the "keep that one in the closet" Hip album for me.

And I always felt they owed Warren Zevon a cheque for the "Oww-uuuuuuuuu-owww-uuuuu" in "I'm a Warewolf Baby."

Small Town Bringdown 'aint so bad.

It doesn't even come close to "Sucking".

I agree that "I'm A Warewolf, Baby" is pretty silly, but the rest of the songs are great! Most people don't like the EP just because of the recording quality. Not only are the recordings not great, they have kind of an 80's sound too. But if you can set that aside and appreciate the songs for what they are, the album is just as good as any other.

I'm a musician myself and have made bad and good recordings. It really sucks when nobody likes your music just because the recording isn't great. I know that was the reason for people not likeing the songs, because I've made good recordings of the same songs and those same people have loved them.

Think about if they recorded all those songs again for UTH or RA. The people who don't like the EP would probably love the songs.

I've always considered Cemetary Sideroad a classic...it was my "song of the week" for 3 months last year....

Song of the week background....I got through phases were I will listen to one song over and over and over again never getting sick of it then find another song.

my current is Donovan and Joan Baez - Colours....I'm sure next week it will be something new....and June 29th it will be something new for sure :thumb: :jump

wouldn't that make it more of a "song of the 1/4 of a year..."? Wink

I also think that the ep sucked. Some of the songs are ok I guess. If the songs are so good how come they haven't played any of these live in about 8 years or so. Back in the day when it came out I liked it but that was back in the 80's. Some of the boots from that time are among my favs though. Like happy birthday dave etc. but the ep did suck compared with what they did after that.

the EP does not suck. the songs are awesome. the only reason they hardly play any songs from that era is because they are dated. they sound too much like the 80s, and the weekend fans only want to hear New O and Courage so theres no room in the setlist for EP stuff even if they wanted to play it...
