I was there and Gord wasn't bored. The emotion level was pretty high during that song.

Fiddler's Green is a kind of Celtic Heaven for men lost at Sea. It is said to be "...the happy land imagined by sailors where there is perpetual mirth, a fiddle that never stops playing for dancers who never tire."

Due to the personal nature of the song, it remained famously unplayed for fifteen years. There were no known instances of "Fiddler's Green" being played live until October 28, 2006 in Calgary, Alberta."

I was at the Concert, Front Row.
Gord took a minute before the song, almost in quiet self-reflection.
He didn't jump around during the song, or dance. He just sang. He did it with emotion and respect, and most of the crowd respected him too.
I'm just glad to have been a part of that. It was unbelievable to no end

No Way is Downie bored. This might be the most emotional and heartfelt 5 minutes of Hip I have ever heard. These shows are taking the band to a new level. 5 guys digging a bit deeper for some extra magic... Simply Beautiful.

I met Paul in toronto on June 23 a few hours before they gates opened, and I made a point of asking him how many times Fiddlers Green had been played because I also absoloutley love the song, and he said they had only ever played it once before, so I think calgary was the 2nd time ever, the first time must not have been recorded, or maybe paul was wrong, but hes in the hip so im gonna trust him lol

This was the first song I learned how to play on guitar and by far one of the most gorgeous songs ever written, let alone one of the Hip's best.

hmmmmmmmmmmmm, interesting...unless he was alluding to the recording of it...or the campfire version that was reported on this forum a while back (it was an instrumental performance without Gord)...

I know this is a fiddlers green thread, but i was just thinking, I love IVL and just checked to see how many times "Leave" has been played and its onl 4 times, is it just me or does everyone not like that song?, i think its one of the best off ivl and would love to see it live
