picked it up at lunch and have listened to it a few times already. I'm very impressed so far. Solid effort from the boys. I'm pissed I'm going to be out of town for the show here in May though. I'd like to catch these guys again.

as a pretty big SRB fan, new album is way up there in my favs for this year, listened to it a few times...each song has it's own thing, no songs are too similar

well done Mr Roberts...worth the few years wait between albums

Not much left to say here, except SRB kicks ass! Good solid album, Im really digging it.

For anyone who's interested in what the SRB likes in musi, their celebrity playlist is up at puretracks.com right now..

Picked it up this afternoon and I'm on my 3rd listen right now. Fantastic album! It must be tough to follow up a great record like "We Were Born in a Flame", and Sammy and the boys have definitely delivered. Ain't no sophomore jinx for these guys. Judging by how much their sound has developed since the "Inhuman Condition" EP, I have a feeling Sammy is gonna be around for a long time to come. He's just gettin' warmed up!

What no Hip on their list? I thought if anyone would have listed the hip in their celebrity playlist, it would have been Sammy! You know, a Three Pistols or a Locked? Something that rocks as hard as they do?

I was thinking the same thing. I'm sure that like everybody else, his list changes from day to day. He probably just wasn't in a "Hip" kinda mood on that particular day.

Sam, Sam, Sam... don't ever put down donairs, even in jest...

I'll be picking up this CD after work. I'm quite geared up about it--especially with a road trip to New Brunswick looming this weekend!

Alrighty, so I've given the new disc a few spins now and every time I listen to it, I like it more and more. "Mind Flood" is an absolutely killer song. 8 minutes of pure rock n' roll bliss. I wasn't sure if I liked "The Gate" when I first heard it on MuchMoreMusic, but now it's one of my favorites on the album. I knew I just had to hear it on a proper stereo.

Absolutely! And the extended intro is a nice treat! I was saying to Chris Chris the other day that this album could almost be looked at as an extension of WWBIAF. The intro from The Gate could easily be worked in as an extended outro from paranoia. The albums seem to work seemlessly together.

One comment that was kicked around a lotabout WWBIAF was that it failed to capture the pure live essance of Sam Roberts. I don't think the same comment will be made about this one. I find this as a very solid step in the right direction for the band. The extra time they took to make this album has paid off in spades.

Also, for those who pre-ordered from iTunes, Step Inside and Fall Before You Finish are two more great tracks. Fall is almost completely different for the band; it reminds me an awful lot of Dakota by the Stereos last year in how it was still a song by the band, something new and exciting that leaves us wanting more for the next album.

Every time I hear this album, more and more I want to hop the train to Kingston as soon as my flight gets in on the 25th and hit up Stages for the show (despite the fact I already have tickets for Toronto on the 27th). I guess that's the power of a great album.

Cheers,

Pat

Well put!
Can you buy the 2 bonus tracks from the pre-sale on their own from iTunes?

As of right now you can't. However, the US version is out May 16th and may or may not carry these bonus tracks or others we don't know about yet.

Pat

instead of starting a new thread, i will throw it here.

That might be the last time i ever watch Much music, maybe if the Hip were on there, i might change my mind. Those vjs were worse than listening to Bookie. They were so bad. stupid questions, they actually made bookie look good as an interviewer.

Though what can i expect, they usually interview emo bands who you can't ask serious questions in fear of them crying and cutting themselves.
