"We are happy to announce April 11th as the official Canadian release for our new album, Chemical City. It's been a long time coming and it feels great to finally be able to say that. U.S. and International releases are T.B.A. in the near future. We will be adding more concert dates as well as we hit the road in early March. A quick thanks to everyone who has helped our first single, The Gate, along, by requesting it at radio stations nationwide. Help spread the word!"
Sweetness. New Sammy. New PJ. And of course, new Hip. 2006 is gonna kick ass!

Yup, it's gonna be a great year for new music. Other new albums I'm excited about:
Neko Case- Fox Confessor Brings the Flood (March 7)
Ben Harper- Both Sides of the Gun (March 21)
Drive-By Truckers- A Blessing and a Curse (April 25)
I heard one of Neko's new songs yesterday on the satellite radio. Real sweet tune!

Wilco
Tool
Red Hot Chilli Peppers
A few others I can't think of at the moment.

Don't hold your breath on that one.
Hopefully Axl will be the one driving the truck with every copy of the album that was printed, including all the masters. Then, because Axl's as good a driver as he is a musician, he'll veer off the road, over a cliff, and the truck will burst into flames on contact, destroying any chance of ever hearing a new Guns 'n' Roses album.
A little dark? Perhaps. Let's just say I'm really not a big fan and could never understand why people got these guys.
Back to Slammin' Sammy, as anyone who visits the SRB board would tell you, I'm pumped for the record, as are a lot of people. The Gate is a very promising single. My hope with any great lead off single is that it actually is the weakest album on the track -- those to me are classic classic records. If a song like Step Inside, an old song that was brought back out late in the 04 touring, is on the record it could be massive. Other tracks we've heard, like With a Bullet or Bootleg Saint also are steps in a great direction.
Cheers,
Pat

LOL! I totally agree with you regarding Axl's so-called forthcoming album, and I actually hope it never sees the light of day. And if it does, I hope it tanks. I still don't understand why he decides to call the project Guns N' Roses, when it isn't even close to being the same band. Without Slash, Izzy, and Duff, there is no Gn'R as far as I'm concerned. I used to be a really big fan though. Appetite For Destruction still holds up really well, and it's easily one of the greatest rock albums ever made. It's a classic, simple as that. The Use Your Illusion albums had some great stuff on them as well, but they still didn't match the raw, kick-you-in-the-nuts power of Appetite. After that I completely lost interest in them. It was around that time that the Hip had become my favorite band and overtaken any hold that Gn'R once had on me. Axl has become a complete joke, and there's a reason why his album has yet to be released. Because it most likely SUCKS.
But back to the topic at hand, I'm really excited about the new Sam Roberts album. I think he's an incredible talent, and the best part is that he's a young guy and he's just getting warmed up! Can't wait to hear it.

Sam's new stuff sounded great in concert last September, so I can hardly wait for the new album.

GOT to be kiddin' me...

This should be an interesting album for sure, it was meant to be a trilogy released over the next 2 or 3 years, but they didn't want to spread them out so long. Instead they will release a double album this year, and another single album later this year or next year. Im anxious to hear it, thats quite the concept. Ever since Frucisante returned they have been making great music, I loved the last one. I heard Velvet Revolver is working on an album too, I like them, hopefully we will get something from them this year as well. I'd rather listen to VR than the "new" GnR, which I doubt will happen anyways.
