What I look for in a show is uniqueness within the songs. I would love to hear earlier versions of songs we've come to love, or shows where Gord infuses the setlist with snippets of other songs. The best part of Live Between Us, to me, are the covers: "It's a Bad Time to be Poor", "China Girl", etc.

Here here...when you listen to the hip as much as I (we) do, it's the little things...the twists...the "I heard seagulls last night..there everywhere...there omnipresent"...how these guys haven't become the jam band of all jam bands is beyond me.

these are the shows I love...they never stop...gord is so amped & the band is so on...you feel like your there. They might be sucky recordings, but I can't tell you the last time I heard the studio versions...

I wish I could have the Philly show from last tour. Sept 26, 2004 I think it was. NO ONE recorded that show and it was a tragedy because it was wicked cool. Even the crowd chanting was awesome. AND they played Heart Of The Melt.

Although I've already picked my 5, it just occured to me that releasing the complete shows that contain the "Apartment by the Freeway Highway Girl" & the classic "Killer Whale Tank New Orleans Is Sinking" songs would be killer. Also, perhaps the 2004-04-19 Cleveland show to get a soundboard recording of "Fighter Fighter"........

Whoa, this is some kind of thread right here!

A lot of great shows mentioned here here, but my choices would be somewhat different. I'd definitely choose the concerts I've seen... but of course we are all getting the 11/26/04 show from the ACC in Toronto (which will be awesome, by the way! :thumb: ), so never mind about that one. So that would leave:

09/05/91 - A show they did for Frosh Week at UWO in Thompson Arena, London, ON... my first Hip concert!!

08/15/98 - First (and so far only) small-venue show in the States I've seen (Wantagh, NY)... just an awesome experience, sooooo many memories...

02/22/99 - First concert, I think, in the ACC by any band. A great show and great setlist.

I would also nominate what I feel is the best boot/recording I've heard so far, 04/28/95 in Rochester, NY.

So MAv, how long will you tease us before revealing your intentions behind starting this thread? 8)

I'd love to hear a recording of the surprise 12/29/99 gig at the Horseshoe Tavern. Justing getting into that show is one of my greatest memories, unfortunately there were no tapers at that one either.

My pick would be 4/29/95 Buffalo NY. It was our first Hip show and was a great setlist. It was also the first and last time the Hip played the old Aud (War Memorial Auditorium). Next time they played a major Buffalo venue was 11/26/96 in Marine Midland Arena, the successor to the Aud.
