any time you replace knowledgeable folks like bill welychka (who went to my high school, on a side note) sook-yin lee and master t and replace them with a bunch of teenagers who won random contests, the on-air quality is gonna go down because the employees arent as knowledgeable or experienced... and ya, denise donlon is missed there.

I'll share with everyone my one and only meeting with Bill. I was in Calgary for a national trade conference. A buddy (Dan) and I were rather intoxicated, at some bar (an old movie theatre, converted to a club) and as we were leaving, we saw Bill off in the wings talking to some girls. Danno went over and the conversation went something like this:

Dan: Hey man, I know you from somewhere.

Bill: Hi! I'm Bill Welychka from MuchMusic.

Dan: No, that's not it. But it is from TV.

Bill: Well, I have been on other shows, but that's because I am on MuchMusic.

Dan: I know where I know you from. That show on Rogers Cable. Buzz. You were on that show! That's totally it.

Bill: F**k off!

He does seem like a decent guy, but I think one thing that really comes across as a big plus on his character is he really seems to have a genuine love for music as art, and for all types of music. He's knowledgeable, always respectful and always manages to ask questions that both casual listeners and hardcore fans want answered. He's one of my favourite on air personalities, even though I haven't seen him in years.
