I knew there was a friendly atmosphere on here, but I never realised it was that friendly!

Very true. They do say opposites attract. As long as both parties are open minded though, then you should be ok.

I'm very fortunate as my girlfriend seems to like The Hip. Not as much as me, but she does like them. She came to see them in London last year, and had a great time! She was also the one who suggested that if The Hip play mainland Europe at any point this year, that we should go over to Holland/Belgium etc and see them, see as we don't get much chance. That's my girl... :thumb:

My wife puts up with most of the music I listen to, but has never claimed to hate it.
I put up with her Shania Twain episode, and hardly took the piss at all ;-)

This just made me angry! Not really...but I was definitely appauled. How can ANYONE hate the Hip. I dont get it. I think she just hasnt been exposed to them properly! You need to show her the way.

My girlfriend isn't too keen on the hip either. But she doesn't go out of her way to make that known. Different musical tastes are obviously the norm...for every 1 strong musical preference that people share, there are probably 10 that they don't. May as well get used to it

You know what's insidious? My husband claimed to love the Hip while we were dating. We went to concerts together. We screamed our lungs out together. He promised me that it would always be thus. It was a beautiful thing.

Now I can't get the SOB out of the house to a show to save my life. I still go, but he doesn't go with me.

And you know what? You can't sue for breach of promise anymore.

So, be happy that your girlfriend is upfront and cultivate friends who will go to shows with you.
