I’m for alt versions of songs too. I don’t think they all need to be exact. If it’s good its good. I don’t think there are too many guitar players. Just partner with someone or just start a song and someone will join when they can. I’m assuming this is an on going process.
I’m sure some of you aren’t fans of Zakk Wylde but I am. He did this mini tour of acoustic songs where he completely changed the original..the only thing left from the original song was the lyrics and the key they were in. I was impressed it blew my mind. I have a CD of a song with the 6 songs on it if anyone is interested.
back to the topic, lets remember to have FUN.

Thanks skippy! And the text file inclusion is a great idea.
As long as the project stays smallish, I'll do whatever I can as far as editing/mixing/etc goes. It's something that I've always wanted to do, just never had the material or need!

I'm up for any acoustic/alternative versions. I absolutely LOVE hearing any acoustic versions of songs. I couple years ago I had a whole acoustic Hip setlist figured out. Mostly in my head, but figured out. I'll see what I can put together once I get a decent recording system together.
I downloaded Audacity, but haven't had a chance to pick up my acoustic pick up or my electric. I recorded through my computer mic. I tried to record another track by listening to my first track through headphones and playing along while recording. When I do this my second track is about a quarter second off. I hope plugging my acoustic guitar in to the audio input will help fix this problem.
Once I have that fixed, I'll start uploading my stuff.

I hope someone can help me with this:
I plug my guitar into my audio input. I've switched recording settings in the control panel from microphone to input......... Nothing records.
Any help/suggestions?

A guitar or mic uses a mono signal, but in mixing that signal can be panned L or R or centre
Some effects pedals (phaser, etc) can run stereo signals but I don't believe anyone here is using them for this project

I'm using a Line6 Pod Version 2.0...
And I figured out that it isn't my cable, it was that the volume on the output was all the way down... Doh!

Ah, I see
I don't know all the options for recording to the computer, I've never recorded to the computer myself but our old Bass player had Pro Tools and an Mbox which was 2 channels, then he got Cubase and a Firepod and that was 8 channels.
I have a Roland studio (8 channels at a time) and will most likely record to that then burn wavs of the drum tracks to a cd and go from there.
Or I'll limit the amount of mic's I use to 4 and run them into the R4 and then USB them to the computer. I'll figure something out when the time comes.

If I'm needed, I could sing lead vocals or play acoustic guitar. I'm pretty good at singing, and I just got a half decent microphone.

Kinda off topic but if anyone is looking for a good studio mic for a good price, I highly recomend the AKG Preception 200.
It's about $240 and is an amazing mic, it comes with a shock mount as well. Finding another mic this quality will cost 2 to 3 times as much. My only complaint is that it didn't come with a pop screen.
I know most people won't be interested in this but if there is anyone on here that has a home studio this mic would be a great addition, if you don't have a studio vocal mic already.
