I couldn't say how many albums they sold, but it probably wasn't alot. I just checked and the bands website is dead and gone, I get the sense they are no more.

Come on Watchmen re-unite! Tizzard left Thornley so everyone is freed up I think.

Alright, come on Watchmen get back together and open for the Hip!

I'd like to see Toronto's Golden Dogs open up for them...great debut with "Big Eye Little Eye" -- one of may favourites this year.

Some ideas:

Cracker
Built to Spill
Mark Lanegan Band
Masters of Reality (!)
The Walkmen
Joseph Arthur
The National
Neko Case (w/The New Pornographers?)
Black Mountain
Yeah Yeah Yeahs
The Arcade Fire
Metric
The Flaming Lips
Gord Downie and the Country of Miracles
etc. etc. (why not even TV on the Radio while we're at it)

but actually the "no opener" option is probably best, at least in terms of the Canadian gigs. The Hip have to many songs in their catalogue to work with, and fans are always wishing they had played this or that or the other thing, so the sets will tend to be long anyway. This makes it hard for people to come earlier to check out the opening band, making it frustrating for the opening band(s).

Instead, they should Roadside Attract the above bands for a festival. Or put'em all on a train and head across Canada, with stops at various beer stores along the way Big Grin

That would be cool.

Thumbs up for The New Pornographers opening. That would be awesome. "An evening with...." would be awesome again also.

...BUT.....My final prediction is MATT MAYS. He's got a solo record coming out in Canada on October 31 and what better way to promote himself than go across Canada with The Tragically Hip?

MATT MAYS

I'd like to see Matthew Good open up for the Hip. Now that he's gone solo, it could be good for him to get his new stuff out there.
Any chance on that?

For both sides of the bed, go to this guy's site...

I put some iPod Video MP4s up there (also streaming as well) of the Cracker show (which was the b-day of both David Lowery AND Johnny Hickman), though didn't get the CVB show the previous night.
